Just got my new GSG 1911 22 to the range for the first time on Saturday. Pretty good, fired about 50 each of these ammos:
CCI Mini Mags - great
Winchester high velocity copper plated in a plastic case, forget the real name but Winchester's version of mini mags - great
Blazer - really good, maybe 1 failure to extract out of 10 cartridges
American eagle - almost all failure to extract
CCI Clean 22 - this one was the surprise. Every single cartridge was failure to extract.

Anyone have this pistol and care to say what's worked good and not good? I'm aware that rimfire semi autos are finiky at best.

I use Remington golden bullet buckets for the most part since they are the only bulk .22 ammo my local gun store carries. I used to hate them and blame them for the problems I was having but I’ve learned that after about 120 - 150 rounds it’s just the pistol
being all dirty that is slowing down the cycling speed and gumming up the works. That is just my conclusion since the first 100 or so produce few to no failures and it goes downhill fast after 150. You can probably stretch that number with cleaner ammo but I think it will happen no matter what eventually just because how dirty it is.

On my GSG 16 that number is closer to 6 or 700 when it starts to get a little affected but still pretty reliable compared to the the pistols. I have the GSG 1911 and GSG 9, both are the same, once they start to fail they are basically unshootable. (I thoroughly clean after every shoot so it’s basically brand new to start).

mine cycles everything i've tried in it

i was out Sat. with Sig 1911-22 and Glock 22 with Advantage armes 22 conversion first time with both
CCI mini mags 100 rnds zero malfunctions both guns
federals----7 out 10 had failures
winchester --- 8 out 10 faulures
remington 2 out 10 failures

i have a ISSC 22 pistol and it only gets mini mags same results as above

i believe with the lighter springs only the higher powered rounds cycle
i pre-ordered the new glock for 22Lr it has a metal/poly slide and i hope it may produce better results with all ammo (or so glock says)

for now only mini-mags for the 22 semi pistols

I have a GSG 1911-22 with a CW accessories accelerator upgrade kit. It's tuned for Standard velocity and I only use CCI Standard velocity ammo for it for steel challenge.

Use high velocity ammo for the first 500 rounds. After that it should be better. If not then clean the rails on the frame and slide of all overspray paint and they will help a lot.
My GSG 1911 runs anything I feed it. The rails are taken down to bare metal. That's not necessary. I refuse to use bulk Remington and Winchester ammo in any of my rimfire guns, semi auto or not.

I found that cci mini mags and Winchester super x 555 to be on average the best, accuracy was good and usually only one failure to extract per mag. Remington thunderbolts cycled flawlessly but their accuracy was terrible. All other bulk type ammo isn't worth mentioning

I did notice an improvement after polishing the rails on the frame and slide but still not 100%. I shoot a lot more 9mm now for pistol shooting.

I do love the NR GSG 16 for out in the back 40 plinking fun. So far it chews through all brands I’ve tried.
