GSG 1911 22 Cal jamming Problems

Something to look at is the length of the magazine follower spring. Stretch it to 6.5" or longer if it's less than that. I found that unless I did this, I had consistent issues with the 2nd round in the magazine chambering.

I've had my GSG for a few years and mostly shoot Winchester 333/555 thru it it, no issues other than occasional dud or a failure to load on the first round if I don't seat the ammo right in the mag. Just got a Remington plated/brass washed 525 pack but haven't tried it yet...

Btw make sure you oil the gun don't grease it, since that will cause some jamming issue. Learned that for myself.

I emailed ZRTS and asked why they didn't offer a steel alignment cone. They said that the aluminum/steel combo gave the desired "lubricity" and to expect a little initial galling.
They told me that they have run as much as 200,000 rds through a gun so set up with no issues.

I am a little concerned with the aluminum alignment cone.

Was this one of the first GSG ones? How well is that deluxe kit working out? I assume it is the one that let's you remove the barrel screw? I am a little concerned with the aluminum alignment cone.
I have put at least a 1000 stingers through mine and no issues. I bought it about a year ago.

I'm not sure if it was one of the first batch. From reading other threads/posts I assume it might be even though its only a year and a bit old.
Honestly havent shot it since installed the zrts kit, as our range is closed until mid-april. But it does get rid of the screw and looks a lot nicer!

That makes sense.

I have only had the barrel screw come loose a couple of times when three others were shooting it as well and put well over a 1000 rounds through it.

I have yet to sand and polish the rails on mine but i use CCI mini mags. those were ok. but i found Remington viper to be really good.

I worked mine in sitting on the couch before I even took it out so it runs on most, only thing it stove pipes and FTF is CCI Stinger, kind of ironic. Runs beautifully on Federal 525.

Do a good cleaning and get rid of the white grease it has inside from new. Mine worked fine when new not cleaned and after about 100 or less rounds it started having some feed problems and stovepipes. Took it apart and the grease was gummed up on the slide...cleaned lubed and runs like a champ! Since installed ZRT kit and runs even better...feels crisper...if that makes sense?? Use CCI mini mag, American Eagle, Thunderbolt, all works well. Haven't tried any bulk stuff.

CCI mini mags in mine.

DONT USE hollow points; and i find that non-jacketed ammo is more likely to 'grab' the entrance to the barrel easier.

Round nose jacketed all the way.

.,.... if it keeps up, oil the mag(s) and leave a full load of ammo in the mag(s) for a few days to compress the spring and get rid of any extra tension that might be assisiting the problem

Hi not sure if I should start a new thread about this but my GSG jammed open at the range last week and wouldn't fire , took it apart and cleaned it all up including rails/slides and checked for any broken or missing parts all looks good but it still cocks the hammer but won't fire almost seems as if the trigger or something in the action is catching on something. Anyone have any idea or advice they could give to what I could check for? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also before it jammed open put about 1000 rouds of CCI mini-mags through her with no issues

Will the hammer drop at all? If you are pulling the trigger and it wont fire, it is a possibility that one of the safeties is active. If it isn't the magazine/grip safety or even the manual safety, then you have something out of place. Could be something fell into the action.. Or if you opened it all the way up, could be something wrong with the leaf spring.

(Had my grip safety get stuck so the trigger would never work)

just reporting back after I had a chance to try the Remington ammo worked flawlessly and I found it to have a little more snap than Win. 333/555 pack.

Many guys have said it but I'd like to say it another way. Your gun doesn't dislike or like anything or any brand. Your gun simply needs enough recoil energy from the cartridge to overcome the friction of the slide to cycle properly. So two simple things can be done to get your GSG cycling reliably, use ammo with more poke and more highly polished casings (and less tacky oil) and carefully clean up and lubricate your slide/frame to reduce friction.

You can see that some guys just run the gun in with higher power ammo to get the sticky points sorted, others take the matter in hand and do the work themselves with abrasives.

The 22lr is not much cartridge trying to move a lot of slide on a 1911 style gun even though it's a lighter metal alloy.
