Gsg 1911 .22 conversion kit

Has anyone tried this kit out on an older Remington 1911? My Remington is right around 1917 US govt model, and well used. Ive shot .45s out of it, and it's not the most accurate pistol I've shot to say the least. The barrel is quite worn, so I was contemplating getting the Gsg kit for it so I can still have some fun with it, and to 'refresh' it a bit for the range.

I've heard conflicting stories on that particular gun not fitting the gsg kit.. Anyone tried it?

Not sure if this helps but I have it for a norinco np29 and have issues with the magazine not locking in. Haven't shot it yet but think the extractor does not allow the gsg magazine to engage high enough. Could be just a norinco thing though. I have numerous pictures I've taken if people are interested.
