GSG 1911 .22 Conversions...

I only know what I red here. Dlask makes an upgrade kit. They seem particular with types of ammo preferring the more potent type. I tried the complete gun once as people at the range let others try out their guns. It was noticeably lighter so I'm guessing aluminum alloy construction of some sort. Makes sense in a blowback. Other units have only a portion of the slide recoil.

I had one, It worked well as long as you use a HV round nose bullet. I filed the tabs on the back of the follower to keep the bullets from nose diving.
The slide only goes back 2 or so inches. Not much really needed for 22LR.

Make sure the slide rail is well lubed to a point that is close to dripping. Slide is aluminum and since your frame is harder that the slide, you might experience premature wear. Use a very thin synthetic gun oil as a lube. Even the thinnest grease and a slightly thicker gun oil might have some issues with this conversion kit as with any GSG 1911. Also, if the guide rod has a skeletonized base (not solid), then you might have to upgrade to a ZRTS kit as this guide rod is know to break prematurely unless GSG has improved the material. CCI Minimag is the best ammo to use to at least the first 300-50 rds. Then you should be good to go with other HV ammo. Winchester Wildcat is one of the worst for this kit. And yes, a Round Nose bullet is the best for this kit and any GSG 1911 .22.

Makes sense, unless you do not want another Restricted FA registered under your name.

IMHO i say spend the extra and get a dedicated 1911 trainer
add the ZRTS kit and perhaps this spare parts kit
never know how scarce parts will be in the future

Dont be afraid to of having too many restricted guns!!! esp if you only have a couple. 1, 3, 10 whatever...if no one calls the cops on you no one will bother you.
back on topic isnt a full GSG only like $100 more than the kit? I had Glock .22 kits and sold them because its a hassle swishing uppers. Also with with so many 1911's there who knows how's it gonna work on yours? My GSG doesnt like grease so only oil it, all my centerfires get greased.

+1 for IM Luggers' comment. The upper conversion all by itself is hard to find. The complete gun's are all over EE with low round counts. If you don't mind a few scratches you can save cash and the hassle of chasing down a top end only.
Thanks for the info. I'm thinking that with the kit, I have value added if 10 years down the road I decide to sell my Norinco .45; and I already have a high-standard .22.

My GSG 1911 likes federal. But you wont get thru a mag without 2 to 3 jams with wildcats.
Got one in a trade with 4 mags! Slapped it on my Norinco, and it works great with CCI minimags and stingers, but not with lighter, standard loads.
I doubt that I will use it much, and will likely list it in the EE at some point today or tomorrow. I have to admit that it is slick!
+3 on just getting a full GSG 1911 .22lr..... Have had one since they came out. The plain jane model with wood grips. Only mods to mine have been changed out the wood grips for some soft rubber panels & replaced the pot metal barrel bushing with a steel one. Runs like a champ after several hundred rounds with zero issues. Yes, keep the slide rails lubed!
Mine likes HV ammo & works well. I eventually bought a second GSG, one of the desert sand finish models. Haven't done anything to it yet. But makes sense to have a dedicated, complete pistol instead of having to swap out uppers all the time.
