Hey guys. Wondering if someone could help me diagnose why I'm getting failures to extract in my GSG 1911 .22. I'd say it's 2-3 rounds per 10 round mag. The casings are coming out slightly from the chamber, but not much. If I look at the extractor it grabs the casing but when I pull the slide back it slides around it and never pulls the round out any more than it sits.

I know I can buy a GSG parts kit and replace the extractor/spring, but I wanted to ask here if that would actually fix the issue first. Any ideas?

Thanks!

Sounds like your extractor might need a little tuning...use your googlefoo..several videos on fixing this issue...good luck with it..they are great .22 pistols....

I have a buddy with the GSG 1911 .22. It is a fine pistol. He said it recommends high velocity ammo to help everything recoil and cycle properly. He also has had some FTE issues, but it seems like as it warms up, and is shot more, it happens less.

If it hasn't had a few hundred rounds through it yet, it made need to be shot more as well.

I used to have one of these pistols. I would run CCI mini mags and it would get the occasional stove pipe. Upgraded to the ZRTS performance kit and never had another issue.

As others have mentioned, the handgun doesn't like anything that isn't high velocity. I put 300 rounds of Winchester high velocity ammo through mine to break it in and then switched to mini mags.

Thanks for the replies. I have the ZRTS kit installed and about 3000rnds through it, so I don't think it's a break-in issue. I'm using 1260fps 36g ammo, but I'll try some mini mags and see if it makes a difference.

Polishing the chamber might help. What's the brass look like? Any marks/scratches?

I've been using the federal bulk, which I believe uses CCI casings? Anyway, they look very clean.

Another thing to note is after an FTE I can rack the slide all day long and it's not coming out unless I remove it with my fingers.

This pistol has a No List (2 or more jams per mag)
No Remington Thunderbolt
No Federal Champion 1050fps (7fte/10rd mag)
No American Eagle 38gr HP

Yes list (works flawlessly for me)
Sellier&Bellot standard Rn
CCI AR 1200fps
CCI mini-mags
Federal automatic bulk pack

This is my exp so far. From what I've learned so far with 22lr is to shoot a bunch of different pack from each gun then stock only 1-2 types it shoots beat otherwise you'll get a smorgisborg of cheap/on sale/miscellaneous round you don't like. That's why I have a yes list and after discharging my no go ammo I will not be buying anymore of it

Was thinking about a rifle that misbehaved like that. Found debris under the extractor and a burr on the side of it. A little cleaning and polishing and all was well.
