hey guys having trouble with this unit, its pretty much new one outing to the range and shot just under 300 rounds of mixed ammo started with Winchester 1240 fps and ended with cci blazer 940 fps and that's when it started to not cycle the round. I have done a lot of reading and I sanded, cleaned and oiled the frame and slide to remove all the excess paint where the two ride on each other and it still wont cycle those lower power rounds, I had a few of the higher power rounds left and it ate those fine. is it possible the spring got to hot and now needs replacing? I'm at a loss as to whats next for this thing my son loved shooting it and I got it for him mostly.

thanks

The instruction manual for the GSG 1911 clearly says that one must only use High Velocity cartridges. At least 1200fps. I've been shooting my GSG 1911 for nearly three years (over 2,000 rounds through) and have never had any hiccup with the Federal Champion Value Pack, CCI Mini Mag Plinking, Mini Mag Varmint, AR Tactical and Aquila Super Extra.

I shoot federal champion blue box but it comes in two velocities around 1080 and 1240. One day I mixed the rounds up and used the 1080 and got lots of stove pipes as velocity was too low to cycle properly. Picked up box read velocity and cursed some! Then loaded higher velocity rounds and had no more problems👍. What ever brand of ammunition you use GSG 1911 definitely only likes higher velocities! Try use better bulk ammo as well as some cheaper stuff gives problems. In your case I am pretty sure it is a mainly a question of ammunition velocity. Good luck!

Sometimes reading the manual helps lol

Snappy comeback but premature..For a NEW GSG, thats you, you should use a high velocity ammo such as MiniMags for the first while, just like what the manufacturer suggests. The newer springs do not always function with the other brands of ammo as well. As the gun sees more use, and the spring starts to 'soften' you will find you WILL be able to use lesser velocity ammos in most cases. The biggest thing to keep in mind is the profile of the bullet you use. Semi's do not like bullets with a cone shape bullet with a shoulder and will jam frequently. Using a round nose bullet will be your best bet. In addition to ammo type, the most common problem is operator error.

it loads the ammo no problem just wont eject the spent case, I had a feeling it was the velocity but with the cleaning the paint off the slide and frame a lot of reports out there of it eating anything. I have more high velocity ammo I will try next time at the range

thanks

Yes, I had a conversion kit for my .45 for a time and it actually said that on the slide. Functioned perfectly with Stingers and Mini Mags.

On my second...always run federal bulk...can’t remember ever having issues with it...as stated..go for higher velocity rounds...and enjoy your pistol...great fun and value..

I didn't want to complicate the matter more in my comment #2 but I must tell the truth the right from beginning when my GSG 1911 was brand new, I installed the ZRTS Ultimate Performance Package from Blue Line Solutions. It improves performance enormously. It improves reliability, accuracy and aligns the barrel properly by eliminating that idiotic small set up screw. After each reassembly the screw would change the sight alignment slightly. After installing the ZRTS kit you simply remove that screw and can shoot without it. The barrel is now properly aligned by the slide alignment cone in the package.
I also bought the red "ZRTS GSG 1911 - .22 Buffer" from Blue Line Solutions. It's a high quality teflon buffer, much better than the factory one.
The ZRTS kit requires a taller front sight which I also bought from Blue Line Solutions.
All these improvements require some investment but I highly recommend them.

Thank's for the advice I change the guide rod, the spring, and the buffer and still my gun was working like #### came back home sand out all the slide with paint inside and still going like #### I just read you tread and found out my problem is (REMINGTON GOLDEN BULLET IN BULK IN THE FAMOUS BUCKET)

Now I will go buy the good ammo for this gun and will let you know how it goes LOL

My formula for trouble free GSG 1911 .22 enjoyment: Keep it clean, light lube on the slide rails & hi-vel ammo.

Thanks for the info guys. I have been having the same issue since. I suspect the same, but I have this box of ammo to use so I just kept shooting and dealing with the stove pipes.....after all it better than throwing the bulk pack out....next time I will buy better stuff. But for now its pow. pow. fix jam. pow. pow.

I use CCI minimags in my GSG and it works flawlessly. It's true though that the gun gets dirty quickly. Make sure you keep the slide rails lubricated.

On another note, I'm lost the barrel fixing pin. Came home one day and noticed it was missing. I must have installed it the wrong way and it just fell off...

The only way to get another one seems to be with the $30 repair kit...
