Gsg 1911-22

I don't think there's a dedicated GSG1911-22 thread, but they pop up a lot in the 1911 and rimfire threads. It fits a lot of 1911 parts, supposedly 80% interchangeability, but I haven't played that much.

For me, I swapped out the grips and the mainspring housing (to a flat one) and that's about it. Surprisingly, standard 1911 grip screws don't thread into the GSG 1911 frame....different thread pattern?

Anyway, it's cheap to shoot, accuracy can depend on the type of ammo you're using. It's fun to do mag dumps with it because you can get stupid without breaking the bank.

Here's mine, its an older pic still with the orginal MSH.

It's actually not that surprising, what is surprising to me is the number of parts that actually will swap over to American 1911 .45's (GSG's and the Sig variant are German {read European=metric}) The thread pitches are metric but the pins all swap back and forth NP!

I love both mine. I bought my original one when they were first released.
The thing is a workhorse. I have over 15k through it, still runs great. Mine seem to prefer CCI Mini Mags.

Then I bought the mall ninja version and made it my zombie side arm
fake biohazard can and a rail mount sig sauer laser.

buy one, or two...you won't regret it.
Looks like I'll have to pick up some Minimags to try out!

And wow nice collection you have going!

I was im my LGS today and fondled the new shorty officer gsg and the new target gsg...I think they changed the material the slides are made of or the finishing process. The slide was tough and solid looking, finish was friggin awesome!

For those curious, you can put the slide assembly (slide , guide rod, spring, etc) on a 45acp frame. You may need to remove some of the safeties in the slide but it does work well. I use it for practice as I then have the same grip and sear engagement as my 45. Also a 45 slide assembly WILL NOT fit on the gsg frame (thank god) as the barrel won't fit far enough in

I am glad to hear most of you have had good experiences with your GSG/Sigs .... I was not so fortunate.
This is the third and LAST Sig I will ever own. It to will get cut in half by me(just for the satisfaction factor) and removed from the list of my restricted guns.
It never functioned properly from the start with any kind of ammo I tried and the last straw was the frame seperating in the grip area. POS ... IMO
Moved on to an STI conversion, Flawless function with all ammo tried and way more accurate.

Is it just the 1911-22 you have had problems with or were there other Sid's you've had issues with?

I have had 2 Sig 226's one the slide cracked and the other the frame.
To be clear this was not an ammo problem as I did not reload at the time and only shot factory ammo,...Not cheap crap either.
None of them ever worked reliably

That being said I did have a 220 that was good. Every body has a brand they have had no luck with and Sig just happened to be mine

Its a good thing you weren't reloading:rolleyes:, those home rolled .22LR can be he11 on the wrists!? {sarcasm off} I was more than happy with mine until it finally died (broken firing pin and another mystery piece). This happened at approx. 100,000 round mark! I have another inbound as I type. I did find the break in period frustrating with a lot of stove pipes and Failure to feeds, ammo picky ect. But once worn in, it ran like a well tuned German machine that only needed periodic cleaning. Less is more.

I've never heard of slide cracks or broken frames on these pistols (GSG and Sig variant are the same)...anyone else?
