Gsg 1911-22

Had the GSG out to the Target Sports pumpkin shoot last Sunday. Beforehand, I stripped the pistol down, wiped away the white factory lubricant and applied gun oil lightly on the slide rails on the frame, and inside the grooves on the slide where the frame rails go. Locked the slide back, and let it go with the slide catch. Slammed shut without any hesitation. Took her to the range and am happy to say it cycled through 100 rounds of sometimes extremely rapid fire with zero issues. Love this thing!

Ammo in the picture is for my M&P 15-22, I was using the CCI Mini-Mag 40gr in the GSG1911.

The slide stop on my GSG is way to loose. If I tilt the gun left while racking the slide it slips out. The gun is two years old and has about a 1000 rds through it. Has anyone experienced this?

v-king, you need to check a few things. The detents in spring plunger might be stuck and not putting enough pressure on the slide stop to retain it. Then carefully inspect the slide stop itself. Normally the hold open tab should prevent it from falling out except in the disassembly position. Then check for excessive wear.

Some pics here and to blueline should get you some answers.

thanks mtlgun, will do.

When I first got my GSG 1911 .22, I also bought a second mag and a pack of dummy rounds to work the action with before actually going to the range. I found that once more than 4 rounds were put in the mags (that is when a little projection on the follower enters a guide slot in the mag), the slide would often ram the first round right into the feed "ramp" and jam even if I popped the follower before loading the mag. I filed the feed ramp area a bit on mag 1 which seemed to help a bit. I haven't heard anyone else report this specifically. I have not trimmed anything off the mag springs.

It does not like Winchester Wildcat or 333 bulk pack (neither did the range guns really, lol) but I've had no problems with Remington Thunderbolts. Only around 400 rounds total through it to date. I'll try small boxes of other ammo before committing to any bulk purchase. I eventually removed the mag safety and cut a couple of coils off the hammer spring (not going to cut any more than that for fear of light strikes).

Even with the mag safety out, the trigger is pretty poor. It has a lot of creep and feels like a two step sear. There is no great overtravel as received so I have not touched the adjustment. I polished the sear/disconnect, trigger bow, etc but no great difference.

It may not be a target quality pistol but I like 1911's and it is more accurate than me anyway.

Don't think anyone has CW. Blueline has zrts for some items, depends on what you're looking for. ( Shamless plug -- I've got mag loaders up on EE for anyone fed up of thumb busting )

When I bought mine a had issues with the slide going into battery. I stripped the gun down and polished 《with jewelers rouge》the frame, slide, sear, hammer, basically anything that had metal on metal contact. Now I shoot any bulk ammo I want with no issues. I know someone that anodizes , had him strip the upper slide & polish it . He then clear anodized it for me . Still need to get alluminum grips for it now .

FAKE SUPRESSOR !!!

example of where to polish

Getting rid of the coating on the slide and frame seems to be the big help with any jamming issues on these gun, everyone that I have heard that has done it has no more problems and runs all types of ammo

Generally mine has been flawless, I broke it in with cci mini-mags, and then fed bulk all the way... I did however polish the feed ramp right at the start.... Great little shooter, Suprisingly accurate, put more rounds down range with this than any other of my pistols...

My wife's GSG1911 (purchased on GunNutz) arrived today - with a problem ....

The previous owner installed a nice set of after market grips that lacked the relief cut for the thin wing on the right side safety. Then he operated the left side safety with force and sprung the fit between the two halves of the pin.
Right out of the box, it was apparent that something was amiss in the operation of the left side safety and the right side was inoperable due to the pressure of the grip panel.

Should I bother to find an GSG replacement or simply order one for a real 1911? I expect that the seller will go good for either.

Sharps - You're best off contacting Blueline first to see if they've got one in stock. That would be your fastest option I'd bet. If not search EE or one of the dealers.

Thanks!

I spoke with Blue Line this am and they think they're going to be able to help me. My inquiry will be passed on to their shipping department. I'm expecting a return call this afternoon.
