Hi , I bought a used GSG 1911 , 22lr and I would like to eliminate the grip safety , has anyone here done this and can it be done with out drilling the frame?

Remove the safety as per standard disassembly procedure
Grind off the tab that blocks trigger.
Reassemble.

You will now have a gun that will fire whether the safety is depressed or not.
Drilling the frame is definitely not required

There is another way, no need to drill frame.
1) use a digital or dial caliper to measure the inset from back of tab on grip safety to exterior rear of MSH (pick the left side to avoid retention pin right of the plunger assembly )
2) pick a small roll pin or even a portion of a small nail. 1/8" dia. is common
3)remove MSH and transfer measurement to top of MSH less 1/16" ( or 1/2 dia. of chosen pin) and drill 1/8" hole
4) insert pin leaving approx. 3/16" protruding out top, re-install MSH with grip safety depressed to check fit
5) if it functions the way desired glue pin in place.

A $15 MSH is way cheaper to replace than a f*cked up frame and easily restored to working condition prior to resale.

Curious to know why you want to do this? Is there some advantage to trigger pull?

Because if you hold a 1911 properly with your thumb on top of the safety you sometimes don't always depress the grip safety enough to disengage it. That's why almost everyone that shoots a 1911/2011 in competition permanently disables the grip safety.

I am fairly new to handguns especially the 1911 so I talked with a friend of mine down south and he gave me an education on why this is done. . He said when he went in the service back in 1970 and in Vietnam the first thing that he was told to do was "wire it, bend it or grind it". It was always in the cocked and locked position and he used one for his carry weapon for many years since. However for the last few years he has since switched to a Glock for not just the weight difference but because of the potential legal situation of having a safety disconnected and having to use it. The last 1911 that he did use he said he filed and polished the end of the grip safety and it would release with just a touch.
I took my GSG apart and can see just how easy it is to disconnect the grip safety without drilling any holes.
I see why you would want to do this for what we can use them here for but would be hesitant for any other reasons.

Lots of my fellow CGN'ers are telling you just to grind it, eliminate it, remove it because it's a nuisence. Yes, it is, but by law you're not allowed to remove/eliminate any safety from the factory gun. You can disable it, but not remove it. If you do it in the gloom of your basement, and everything will be OK, you're a winner. But if an accident happens, not neccesserily related to this safety, I don't want to be in your shoes.
