Looking for any feedback from owners of the GSG .22LR 1911 style pistols.
A couple of friends are determined to buy them, I told them to wait and I'd see if I could get some owner input first
Personally I prefer a real .45, but they just want them for plinking as well as cost saving on ammo

Any help would be appreciated

Several dozen threads on the GSG if you do a search. First ones had some teething issues that the company resolved. Current models are cool little guns that generally run very well with HV ammo.

I just bought a GSG 1911 22LR and I have shot one a few rounds and love the gun very good gun for the price I would recommend it any day .

I would recommend this gun. Bought it for my girlfriend to shoot at the range and even I cant stop shooting it. Put through 150round of CCI mini mag and she even feeds federal bulk packs without any issues. I think im at 700 round through it already and only taken it out a few times.

Only failures I had was using some really crappy ammo, forget what brand. It wouldnt eject and got stuck in the gun, knife took out the empty shell. and the other one was all me not loading ammo into the mag right so it didnt feed it due to the messed up angle.
Basically, one was my stupid mistake and the other was really crappy ammo that didnt even fire in my rifle 30% of the time.
Good ammo and stuff and this gun is pretty damn reliable and nice :)

great little gun, very accurate. I haven't pursued aftermarket sights but I'm sure with some of the available upgrades it would make it even better. My only complaint would be the finish. It seems to be worn away quickly near the muzzle on the lower part of the slide. Considering the price it isn't a big deal. Also teaches you how to clean a 1911 properly so you don't get the common scratch that everybody does on there expensive 45.

I love mine fun and cheap to shoot. It jammed with the cheap Winchester bulk at first but I put about 1200 cci mini mags and stingers thru it and now it eats anything even the Winchester.

Just traded for one on the EE. Ran 200 rds through it yesterday. Really fun to shoot and no problems. Haven't tried it on the lower cost ammo yet though. For the price I really think you can't go wrong. Here's what mine looks like with the grips I had carved for it.

That looks amazing

Fun to shoot.. keep in mind this gun's slide finish will wear quicker than most because of its makeup.
I personally don't care (adds character some say) but if you care about the look and polish of your gun as much as how well it shoots than maybe not for you. :rey2
Tons of youtube videos on this gun with extensive review after thousands of rounds.

I have the sig version which is the same gun, runs fine on federal bulk pack high velocity. The only issue I had was when I installed the dlask buffer; caused a ton of failures. Re installed factory buffer, no more issues. I would also recommend taking the finish off the slide and frame rails to reduce the friction between the two, it will wear pretty quick anyway. Don't waste your money on the sig, get the gsg version, they are available in all the nice finishes now.

I love my GSG. I run mini mags through and it runs great. I have around 1200 round through it. I haven't tried Federal bulk yet but will soon. The finish isn't great, but that's just cosmetic
