Any known problems with running CCI Stinger through these pistols? I generally try and get CCI Minimag's but I can not find any supply, but Stingers are available. I've shot them through rifles without issue just curious if they would work out of the pistol aswell.

Thanks.

Just got a load of mini mags and stingers....hitting the range tomorrow to try the stingers...let you know...can't see any issues.

Hey
I don't shoot that stuff as I'm very cheap...lol .....I shoot the federal blue box bulk pack....no problems I even put in the zts kit in it and it's good to go...I think thats what it's called.
Glenn.

Might be too hot as CCI Stinger is rated 1640 fps. During break-in, I used CCI Mini-mag, Fed Bulk, Blazer. No REMYS. Then after 1000 rds, CCI SV works fine so as other Win/Fed HVs. Remember, the upper assembly of GSG 1911 is primarily aluminum. I am not saying that it will be damaged. But you might notice premature wear specifically in the slide-stop notch and the groove that touches the rail of the frame. I will suggest to use Stinger sparingly. Better safe than sorry...

mine usually gets fed either remington or winchester standard velocity ammo. it got about 100 mini mags for break in and has run fine on standard velocity ever since...and shoots it more accurately to boot.

I've shot Remington Yellow Jackets in my GSG 1911 and they work great.

CCI Stinger: 32 grain, 1640 fps muzzle velocity (rifle)
Remington Yellow Jacket: 33 grain, 1500 fps muzzle velocity (rifle)

Sounds like I need to find me some CCI Stinger rounds. The main concern for GSG 1911's, as far as I'm aware, is too low-powered a round (which won't cycle the slide) or inconsistently-manufactured ammo (like poor quality Winchesters) which result in jams or failure to cycle the slide.

ambishooter, you mention "too hot" as a concern for the GSG 1911 - are there any reports or experiences of this being a concern? I'm really curious to know if there's an "upper bound" to the power/energy of .22 lr rounds we should be using.

I run a few Stingers through my GSG every now and then just for giggles, some extra noise and flash is all. Mostly it gets bucket'o'bullets or thunderbolts, cheaper the better

<edit> I do use an aftermarket recoil spring though

It is getting a bit better.... The arma coat is starting to wear off inside the rails.... A couple more thousand rounds and it should be broken in.... lol...

I like Stingers in my GSG. I can't see it being an issue. The recoil buffer should take the 'slam' out of it. As far as friction wear goes, well........it is what it is regardless of the ammo.

My girlfriend's GSG will not function reliably with anything other than Stingers.

John
