GSG 1911 FTF issues

I need the wisdom of you GSG owners out there...I took my GSG (clean, lubed and ready to go) and 200 rounds of CCI Mini Mags to the range. To this point the pistol had 250 rounds down the pipe and was working pretty well with approximately 10-12 Failure to Fire. This trip was brutal. Out of 200 Mini Mags, there were 26 FTF. I did not have any other ammo on me and my time was running short so I was unable to test a different brand. The 26 FTF rounds were tried again and all fired properly. My question is was this a bad batch of Mini Mags or is it the gun? Each round was hit by the firing pin, so were they light strikes due to a mechanical issue or something else? Has anyone else had a similar situation? Solutions, ideas, hypothesis...anything would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. Cheers all!

Seems a little odd, that is a lot of FTf, broke mine in with mini-mags, no probs, did polish the feed ramp, but other than that been 8000+ flawless rounds.....normally fed bulk copper washed..
Was it brand new? Did you do full strip and rebuild? Would be amazed if it's the ammo, but stranger things happen....... Sorry for your trouble, let's sort it before it ruins the pistol for you!!!!!

Mine had few FTF/FTE when it was new. I used 200 rds Mini mags within my 1st 500 rds and been good so far. Picky with ammo, but loves Fed Bulk, CCI Blazer and Mini Mag. If you can find Winchester Anniversary Edition from Le Baron, this also feeds well. Try cleaning the slide assembly. Remove some factory lube in the extractor and firing pin housing and use a lighter oil. If this does not fix your problem, send an email to Blue Line. They will get you back into action in the least possible time.

It definitely seems odd. Although this was a very lightly used gun it looks in great shape. I have not done a full strip and rebuild but maybe that's what it needs?! I've been pretty busy so I haven't made it back to the range with different ammo, so besides the heavy cleaning I did at home that is the next big step for the gun. Cheers guys!
 
I found my GSG to get really dirty and fouled up with 22lr (it is dirty ammo) and found extensive cleaning was due more often than my centerfire pistols. I think you'll be good to go once you follow the cleaning instructions that others have written up there.
 
i have found with mine that it will start to FTF after just over 800 rounds at which point i pop the slide off liberally spray the firing pin from both sides with brakeclean and also the extractor
then give it a quick shot of G96 at both ends of the firing pin and the extractor
let it sit for a minute or 2 and then its good to go for another 800 or so
 
You said you cleaned and lubed it before this.Were you shooting outside in the cold? Perhaps the oil you're using gets thick in the cold weather and starts to gum slightly and drag on the firing pin causing misfires? Just a thought as I've had the same issue with shooting in the cold.My GSG was a frickin nightmare of failure to feeds until I took a piece of emery paper to it to smooth the slide rails and hog out the inner portion of the frame.It works now but I'd never buy another one.
 
mine worked pretty well with the cci blazer and the federal bulk copper washed. i did notice with the blazer that after about 60-100 rds the barrel would start leading up pretty bad. i would give it another 4-500rds (try some cheap blazer/federal) to see if its not still wearing in?

No, it is an indoor range, so no temperature issues. However, I am amazed at how rough the slide rails are. I'm not sure if it is the paint or what but I'm going to smooth them out. It definitely won't harm anything and it should help things run a little easier overall. Thanks!
 
the last 2 outings with my GSG it has seen 800 rounds each time both have been in the last month and up until this last outing i have only shot Federal bulk packs through it
yesterday i ran 800 through it of Winchester dynapoint neither the Winchester or the federal have given me a FTF
