Hello,
Anyone of you Guys have experience with leather holster for GSG 1911 22 LR, that I just bought?
Technically it has 1911 frame, but I am not quite sure what to get.
I prefer not an open holster, but rather one that covers the slide.
Any input will be greatly appreciated.
Best,
Alex.V:I:

Try Joe at Laroche Leathers. For the price of a typical off-the-rack leather holster he'll set you up with a custom holster made exactly to your specifications. Great guy to deal with - He's out in Gatineau.

Nothing special but I picked up this Safariland C87 at a recent gunshow locally. Goes well with an accurized 1911 I purchased that was built by an old friend for his own use back about the time when I first got into 'paper punching' and met him.

My favorite 1911 holster is the Milt Sparks Summer Special II. No retention but its never felt unsecure. Comfortable, easy to draw, easy to re holster.

Probably not ideal for competition, but for a "real world" holster I like it. Keeps the pistol in very tight to my body. Although I really have no "real world" use for it :D.

While on the topic of Milt Sparks;) but deviating a little, I picked up one of their products a while back. A reproduction of one they made for Elmer Keith for his 4" S&W model 29 as seen in this photo I took while visiting him in the mid 70's. Thought I should dress up my 4" 29 a little:D

I agree about open bottom designs for daily carry where foriegn objects could find a way into the holster. That S&W 29 holster is sweet :)

On that holster I have for my 29, the presently available model of that design, the leather now covers the trigger guard section. I 'think' it's a liability issue. I contacted the Milt Sparks people and asked if they could make me a more exact copy of Keiths holster and they agreed to do so.

Yes. that 29 is a keeper:). I lucked out at a local gun show a number of years back and picked up that set of S&W factory ivory grips. That's the only set I've ever seen and near as I can determine, the grips are easily worth more than the gun itself.

On that visit with Keith in Salmon Idaho, I mentioned the grips to him and he indicated he had heard of that as an option but hadn't seen any. I did send a letter to S&W a short while back asking for info on that type of grip, the numbers of and possibly the value but to date, I haven't heard back.
