I am most impatiently waiting for my rpal and after a ton of looking, these are my first two choices for purchase. My father has the m&p 9mm which I have shot and few times and also has many different 1911's/brands. I don't want to break the bank on ammo to start out and my son want to shoot with me (12 years old).

Any thoughts? I hate the buckmark style pistol so not an option.

Thanks

New guy to the board, shooting for years!

Have had both. The S&W was let go, the GSG was kept. Does that answer your question?

Also, have a Buckmark Hunter, a keeper!

I'm hoping to have one of these before the fall.

Love my MP22. I have shot all kinds of ammo and no issues from CCI stingers to cheap bulk
My son likes it as well (9)

i have both.

the M&P is much lighter (my 10 and 11 year old daughters like it better because of the weight)
both shoot flawlessly.
sites are a bit nicer on the GSG.
if your thinking of getting into a 9 or 40 or 45 in a M&P at a later date you may wanna go with the M&P22.
and of course on the flip side of that if your going to get into 1911's at a later date the GSG would help you with muscle memory and all that.

either way both are great guns.
and so is the buckmark, hehe.
