I will do a full picture thread for complete dis-assembly and trigger job in the future.
QUICK REVIEW/FIRST IMPRESSIONS:
The GSG seems very solid and has a good weight to it, a bit less than a full size 1911. Many parts are interchangeable but not all, and some feel cheaper than their real counterparts.
The GSG beside my Norinco 1911 sport:
With the fake can:
With fake can, mount and red dot (AND camera flash):
I have not fired it at this point, just moved the slide back several times and disassembled the gun, but the finish is already coming off. It is not blued, looks like its just spray painted:
REMOVING MAGAZINE SAFETY:
Not being able to find how to remove the magazine safety, and knowing that a few people would like to remove theirs, I figured I would post a description and some pictures of how to do it.
Before proceeding, you can remove both the grips (optional). I put a rubber band around the grip safety to keep it tight to the frame when removing the main spring housing:
De-#### the pistol and use a punch (I used a 3/32” punch) to remove the mainspring housing pin. Push it from left to right (where the pin is dimpled in). This might require a bit of force to get out:
The main spring housing will slide right out and contain the magazine safety and spring, which can be removed easily:
Reassemble the pistol in reverse; make sure to insert the hammer strut into the mainspring cap inside the mainspring housing:
RANGE REPORT:
1st shot and pistol would not fire! Not its fault but mine for not re-assembling it properly haha. Fully stripped it in field (losing a plunger, doh), and re-assembling correctly.
Got it working! This thing is awesome. Nice light trigger, accurate out of the box. No problem hitting a gong at 25 yards in rapid fire. Sight needs to be adjusted to shoot the 60 yard gong (shoots right). Magazines load easily, insert, and fall out easily. No jams, FTF, FTE, just perfect!
Liked: Win 555 36gr, Rem thunderbolts 40gr.
Didn’t like: Win Wildcat 40gr (had to pull back the slide each shot to extract/rechamber).
This thing is night and day compared to my Sig mosquito (horrible trigger).
The finish, as predicted, is wearing everywhere, but personally it is not a concern:
