gsg 1911

So, if I understand the post correctly.... if you have a GSG 1911 in .22 lr you could, in theory, convert it to a .45ACP, by removing the GSG 1911 .22 lr top-end [i.e. the complete slide, barrel, recoil spring, & guide & plug] slap on a 1911 topend in .45ACP [i.e. the complete slide, barrel, recoil spring, & guide & plug]. Then swap the .22lr magazine for a .45ACP magazine. Then, in theory, you are good to go to shoot .45ACP?

If I understand correctly, this gun will need more than simply swap the slides to make it a .45.
"... in fact it is modeled after a Colt 1911 (not the GI series) and is 80% interchangeable with other 1911's. What this means is that you can't swap out only the slide, guide rod, barrel or spring with a .45 and expect them to work. In other words, don't expect to put a recoil spring from a .45 into this gun and expect it to work (I know this sounds insulting to your intelligence since it's common sense but they told me this in order to cover their own butts). HOWEVER it is FULLY interchangeable if you swap out ALL of the parts I mentioned above. In other words you could say this gun is backwards compatible and turn it into a .45 from a .22. Put simply this gun is meant to be able to convert to a .38 super, .40 S&W (I believe, I did not ask) and .45. As such if you wanted to swap out the trigger, mainspring housing or tweak it in any way at all to bring it up to "target 1911 standards" then you can do that as freely as you would any other 1911."

There was a post on one of the other numerous threads about this pistol where one of the members had emailed GSG and what he emailed back agrees with only the 80% parts compatible. The email stated specifically that it cannot be changed into a .45 or anything else but that it could be used as a conversion for a .45 into .22lr

Never mind, I'll see for myself when they get here.... ;)

I canceled my order. Hopefully those that wait will get a nice gun.
What convinced me to cancel was a comment I read about the " availability " of spare parts. If something breaks & needs replacing, good luck.

Yes, I've seen the Chiappa but I like the GSG better. Also, I'm leaving for a 5 weeks trip soon, so I'm not in a hurry to get it. Hopefully, Blue Line will start distributing the GSG-s by the time I get home.

Sometime all you need is a good machinist...

The GSG 1911 pistols have arrived in Vancouver last week. We are currently clearing them in Customs. We expect to be able to start processing pre-orders before the end of the week.
Purchases can be made in our retail store Blue Line Outdoors Sports in Port Coquitlam BC. We are also accepting orders in our Online Store at www.blueline-activities.com or by phone 604-552-8830.

Thank you

Yes, that is correct! If the GSG 1911 magazine and slide were installed onto another 1911 pistol of any calibre it would work as 22 lr conversion kit.

Picked mine up today.

Looks fantastic...bought 2 more mags for a total of 3.

As for the pistol....finish is very nice parker type finish...everthing is metal except front and rear sights (plastic).

Wood grips are very good with a nice stain.

Mags are heavy weight metal with polymer follower and butt plate....nice thumb assist for loading as well.

I'll have photos later and perhaps a range report, until thenl......cheers people.
