Well I haven't tried the slide but I know the GSG magazine does not fit into my full size 1911.
This is not something I need to do but wonder how this would work/if anyone has done this.

It's supposed to fit on any mill spec 1911 for the upper receiver and mag.. at least that’s from GSG directly
 
this with a 9mm 1911 would make me happy. i'm liking the price though even if i don't use it as a conversion, though i shouldn't be spending so much money. if only i won the lottery. just once, just once and i'd be good.

I know but it would not be the first time wrong info was provided by a manufacturer or a retailer.
I think the GSG mag. would fit if the stub that activates the mag. disconnect is removed, but I don't know about the fit of the GSG slide. I see no reason to try and do a .22 conversion when I have two functioning pistols, just curious if anyone has done this.

The GSG slide does fit on my Sig and it functions fine. I dryfired the gun a couple of times, loaded the magazine with .22LR ammo and cycled the ammo as well. Everything works and looks fine. However, a field trip to the range is still needed to make sure that the gun functions as it should.

Since the design of the GSG locks the barrel to the frame so it cannot move, you should think very very carefully about firing it more than a few times. Without the lock setup on the SIG frame the barrel is going to be shuttling back and forth as the unit fires, this will either elongate the slide stop hole, or break either the slide stop or the barrel lug is that is hardened. In my view it would definitely not be a good thing. Falls into the same category as firing a 32SWL in a 32ACP chamber (and yes a Walther GSP-C will do that) and the results are considerable damage.

I'm happy with both guns the way they are. Maybe somebody will shoot the conversion long before I try.
 
Thanks for the report Rusty, even though it sounds like there may be some potential downsides to using that as a conversion kit, nice to know it can be done in some applications.
 
Regarding the fit of the GSG1911 slide on centerfire frames:
The GSG1911 (used as a conversion kit) was developed
for centerfire pistols with "series 80 safety"
(google it to make sure you understand it).

If your centerfire frame does not support a series 80 safety, then
your GSG1911 slide assembly will not fire as it is.
You have to disable the fire pin safety from the slide to make it fire.
You have to do it yourself,
as no profesional gunsmith (who is sane) will permanently disable
any safety system of a gun.

Yupp lol....I was hoping other users on here would get the "plastic cement" thing as a guy on the high road (not sure how mand CGNs are on it) swore for years he can make any Glock full auto with just a little bit of it:p
 
The conversion info is great, but how about the range report? Is this gun running smooth? Does it eat all kinds of ammo? Accurate (well.. that's more the shooter than the gun, usually)? I think I want one.

In my case,no FTF or FTE. Works fine with Federal champion and blazer HV.
Not as accurate as my S&W 2206 (2206 being considered a not very good pistol!!!) but plenty of fun! Feels like a 1911 and for 379$ you cant go wrong. I'll wait until I break it before posting range report.
