Gsg 1911

Check your PAL book, if you have one. If you know of people shooting 9mm and .45 on crown land and it is not from a nonrestricted rifle then you should call the police. I would think that is a better action then talking about it on an open forum. Interesting 7th post...

I am interested in getting one as well, they seem to be well liked. No restricted firearms of any type outside of a C.F.O. approved range. 22s included (just so we are clear)

Dumb rules I know, but I didn't make 'em.

I am not sure, but I seem to recall as well as told that the only exception would be for a person who owns a trapline. They can carry and use a .22 pistol for the purpose of dispatching caught animals.

On another note, I want one of these myself .. just if they came in .22WMR :D

I could have googelt it as well...... but why not ask in a forum full of shooters?
And - I said I know some guys who do it - and I can hear it from my backyard. And yes, I called the cops twice on that, because crown land starts where my backyard ends, and its a matter of time that a bullet hits my house.

By the way, how many posts do I need to ask a question like that? Will I find that answer in my PAL book as well?

Thanks SKi911, simple answer to a simple question.

I just said it is interesting. We get a lot of people that have very few posts who throw out examples of illegal behaviour that make shooters seem like they are not law abiding citizens...Maybe it is a coincidence, maybe not, I dunno, that is why I just said it is interesting.

Thet GSG 1911 is defently lots of fun I have 1. I have put around 20,000 rds through it with only 5 that didnt go off.. and it was ammo problems not the gun..

newshot, here is my point of few, and I can only speak for myself.

Getting a PAL in Canada is very simple. All you need is a clean record, a five dollar book and a bit common sense. So - you go out and write your exam - pass - and still know nothing about guns, shooting or laws.

As a responsible person (and I consider myself as a responsible person), I start to collect information. The way to do it in the 21st century is - the internet, one of the forums.

Many questions seem to be dumb or silly for an experienced shooter - but for newbies like me they are essential. Don't get me wrong, I am shooting for years - but not in this country.

I passed both PAL-exams in the high 90 percent - but still was not 100 percent sure if a 22 lr handgun is restricted - and if I can shoot it like a non-restricted rifle on crown land.

It's not my intention to make shooters look bad - I want to be one! I just want to cover all grounds, make sure I am not making a mistake in purchasing and handling weapons in a country, where I live for just 5 years now.

Picture yourself in, let's say - Germany. How hard will it be to get a gun licence? Where can you shoot? How do they classify weapons? And so on, and so on. In case you live there one day )or anywhere else in the world) - I bet you will join an internet forum and ask questions....... so do I!

Have a nice day,

Jan

That was not my point but I sent clarification in PM so you can keep this thread on track.

Hey Jan,

they always try to scare the newbies here and you have to be politically correct all the time . This is not like germany !

22 lr Pistol is restricted therefor you can only shoot it at a range. GSG is real nice , I'm thinking of getting one myself.

There is an exception for wilderness carry for protection from predators, but you must apply for that permit. Unless your trap line is a remote area, good luck getting one. There is no caliber restriction in that case that I am aware of.
So, long story short, you may not carry a restricted firearm anywhere other than where it is deemed by your long term ATT (authorization to transport) .22 or not. And you certainly may not fire it anywhere other than an approved range.
