Well I got the GSG 1911 in the mail today! Really excited. It is my first pistol/firearm. Can't wait to get out Sunday to try it out.
I disassembled it and cleaned up what I could see of light green grease. I applied a little bit of gun oil like I saw on some videos on the net for 1911's...
What are people's advice for oiling it?
I also would like to get some cleaning rods and supplies. I saw Canadian Tire had a "Universal" gun cleaning package for $10 or $15. I'm waiting to see what I can get at my local shop. Anybody have a favorite shop on the net for cleaning supplies?

Well, I went to a safety course tonight and I was only allowed to shoot until they felt I could aim decently... Five shots with the gun supported on the rest, then 5 standing. So 10 rounds of 525 federal went through it with no issues.
I did a lot of research on the gun before I decided to buy it. It generally sounded like the gun could be a little picky about what type of .22 you put into it, but it did't seem like a overwhelming issue. They gun seems very popular, it wouldn't be if it they never worked.

Well, I went out to the range tonight for my first prolonged shooting experience. I'd say I shot away 1/2 or damn close to 1/2 a box of Federal 525 value pack.
Only one issue, a failure to feed. It was when I had just loaded in a mag, and was letting the slide snap forward. I probably didn't let it snap fully.
Anyways, really fun to shoot. Unfortunately at 20'/25' I am not a very good shot, so I can't say how accurate it is. I got some alright groupings with lots of fliers. Hopefully with time and practice I'll get better!

Well I've been out to the range with the GSG 5 times.
The last 2 times I started having failures to feed from a fresh mag from the slide locked back. When I pulled the slide back to unlock it to chamber the first round, the bullet would fly out of the chamber forward. Probably about 20% of the time.
Today I asked the RO and he showed me that I was kind of pushing the front end of the last round down when I put it into the mag. After that I never had the issue again. However I did have the first round "stovepipe" a few times, I suspect from having the front end of the bullet in the mag too high? Any ideas and suggestions people?
I also had my first two failures to fire today. I held the gun down range for 60 sec, tapped and racked. I suspect it must have been the cheap Federal ammo, but I don't know.
All in all I am happy with the gun. I am not a very good shot, but I am getting better. I had a few alright groupings within 5 inches at 20 yards today.. with two or three fliers. I feel I am getting better at least understanding what it takes to make a good shot.

Got out to indoor range this afternoon to test my new GSG 1911. Very happy with the performance.
Shot about 100 rounds and had 2 FTF using winchester bulk ammo. Shoots really nice, getting 2 inch groups at 20 yards in the end.
Hitting at 12 o'clock in the black using a 6 o'clock hold. I will swap out front sight for the next taller one.
All in all I am very happy with my purchase from blueline.

Love mine!!!!!. Had it for 2weeks now, prefered copper washed ammo to start with, but now after 350 rounds it has eased up and shoots everything from cci mini mag to federal bulk. Amazed how well it shoots out of the box and so far only two ftfeed........ Bought mine from gunnar at armco, along with another pistol, and had the stainless steel guide rod also!!!!!!!!

First experiance
took my new GSG shooting today. Had a few different types of .22 All of it was high velocity, but the grain was different. I found that the higher the grain the better it worked. 36gr Winchester and Fed Champion was bad 2-3 ftfs and ftes every mag. 38gr Am Eagle was good, only one fte in 50 rds. The .40 gr Blazer was absolutely flawless. I put about 100 rds and not one issue. Maybe the smaller grain rounds are to weak to cycle the action properly (limp wristing) causing ftfs and ftes.

Second trip to the range today. The gun is breaking in nicely. Blazer ammo is still 100% fault free. Federal Champion seems to be working a lot better. Still had a few fte and ftl but far fewer then the first time. Winchester white box sucks. The Winchester Dynapoint GT worked great too. Only one fte in 100 rounds. This proves my theory that 40 grain is the secret to success here. Clearly though, CCI Blazer is the winner. I haven’t been able to find anything bad about lead rounds so I think I’ll stick with it.

Buy the GSG there awesome plinkers. The gun eats anything not one FTF, FTE. The only issue with them is the week guide rod/poor design, but if you have any problems blue line will be quick to replace your parts. The issue with the guide rod is that its just not long enough to seat properly in the recoil spring plug ... the guide rod hits the plug as recoil happens, this is what caused mine to bend and would have eventually broke.
I havent had a chance to shoot it since replacing the parts with the updated parts but from what I see its only a matter of time before it bends or breaks again.
I Need to find someone to cut a steel rod for me thats full length. Arm-Co sells a steel one but his is the same length ... 1/8th too short.

This may be a little moot now that the OP has bought a GSG, but after this
I'll say, that's my thread, and somewhere in there I also recommend the gun. Just because I am having troubles with mine, doesn't mean they're no good.
There was some early issues that have been addressed by the manufacturer. Same as many new model cars ( $400 opposed to $30k).
I possibly got a poorly machined one. I don't know yet. Still working on things trying to eliminate causes.
I had mine out today and it ran perfectly for around 400 rnds. A few FTF or FTE as you would experience with ANY .22. (which just confused me further because I did nothing to it since last outing)
So, I got one with problems, but there are hundreds recommending this gun, and you listen to me ??
BTW, Blue line has helped me out with this gun and I didn't even purchase it from them. They were aware of that from the outset as well.
Having shot and built 1911's for 25 years I was absolutely amazed when I saw and picked up a GSG at the TSE in Calgary. Bought it on the spot - out of the box out to the range worked flawlessly!!!! And with a variety of ammo HOWEVER only Long Rilfe - not Longs. Also from reading the previous posts - you guys gotta remember - just because its a light recoiling gun - its also a really light slide and recoil spring SO you can't 'limp wrist" the thing or you will have all the problems I've read in previous posts. Truly amazing part is the number of standard 1911 parts will fit!!! And after buying the gun - found TCE had the best prices $379.00 - you can't beat that with a stick!!! Have fun!!!!
