Cool little kit, aluminum slide containing barrel, guide rod assembly, extractor, ejector, and firing pin series 70 or 80. The kit comes with parts to convert from 70 to 80 but I don't see the point - it will work as a 70 on either 70 or 80 frame. One 10 round mag.

Fit wise, the slide fits my Remington R1 and Colt Gold Cup, but not my new Ruger SR1911. The Ruger frame rails are much tighter. I only tried it on my Colt today because it was already dirty with .45 dust.

I had cheap American Eagle and Winchester ammo and they both worked fine with the odd round not cycling. I was getting a few stove pipes with the Winchester and FTC with both. I was afraid the .22 would not be able to push the hammer back but most of the ammo did fine even slide locking the last round.

Accuracy - comes with different front sights but the ones I had on were accurate to 10 yards with pretty decent groups. On the heavy Colt stainless frame there is virtually no recoil but the trigger pull is probably way too heavy for shooting .22 so it's ore likely me than the gun.

Conclusion - Can complain for $250, no need to register another firearm. I would not expect super awesome performance for what it is, but it's still pretty fun. You would need to do too many mods to frame internals to make it perfect. If you want a good tool to practice your trigger pull on your 1911 - this is great, I noticed how much I actually flinch cuz I think I'm still shooting .45 out of my frame.

Would you buy it again, or just pop for the extra cash to buy a dedicated GSG if you could do it again? I'm looking for a 1911 and I'm considering bundling it with a GSG when I buy it. I might consider this though.

I don't think I would go this route if I were to do a lot of .22. I don't think would buy the whole GSG 1911 - there are better .22s in that price range. I just love 1911s! You can get a Norinco Woodsman for $200 new and it would probably be less fussy with ammo. Another reason I got it was so my wife can practice ACTS & PROVE on my guns with a weaker recoil spring.
