GSG .22LR conversion of old 1911.

I have an old (1917) Colt 1911 and was wondering if anyone has a .22LR conversion made by GSG sitting on top of a 1911 frame. Blueline has GSG .22LR conversion kits made to fit Series 70 and 80 Colt 1911's,would either of these fit an old pre-A1 1911???
I am thinking that plinking with the .22LR on the old 1911 frame would be a cheap day at the range and not to hard on the old-timer.
Any ideas on this...Thanks
