GSG 5 news?

I had called blue line a while back about this.

Some time in June or July they were taking the case to court, apparently. I have no idea how far along the court case is, but I can't really imagine any canadian judges being interested in letting this gun into the country.

Banning the GSG-5 "because it looks like an MP5" would be like banning the vz-858 because it "looks like an AK". Legally it makes sense that it should only be restricted, but we will have to wait and see. I will buy one in a heartbeat if they clear up this issue.

But why should it be restricted? Legally it meets all the criteria for a non-restricted 22 rifle...

No I am saying you can argue and win, that has happened before. Make sure you go in prepared. Have a letter from the factory stating it looks like, but is not a variant is a good start.

So, has anyone done so? Or have the money to be able too? You sounded kinda negative to me in the previous posts so I thought it was a lost cause.

I'll put it this way... a LOT of people want it... but I dont believe anybody is doing anything about it... it'll cost us way too much (for the person doing it) that might as well just build one from a 10/22 or something.

Im not sure if any dealer is following up on it either as nobody is saying anything.

Too bad

Blue Line has yet to see the inside of court... we won't have news of it for a little while. Until then, let's not dream too much. ;)

Yeah, but so did the AK-22 lookalike made in the Philipines (forgots its actual name) that is prohib by name as an AK variant. Based on the methods used to create the original Prohib list, looks are enough.

Why would Blue Line have to see the inside of a court? Can't the lawyers sit down and settle this in a common sense way. I don't see why it would be so hard for the RCMP to admit their mistake and fix it, before blowing tax payers dollars in a court defending their stupid decision to classify it as prohib.

see it makes sense to you cause you are using logic, but we all know the government is a bit short on that.

i mean, how hard is it to get your wife or girlfriend to admit they were wrong about something?

They're afraid of setting precedent, like with GSG's AK22...
