GSG 522 and Schmeisser StG 44 at SHOT

Went by the German section at SHOT and checked out the GSG display. We know them for the .22 1911s.
They told me they have submitted for FRT approval ( 3 years now!!) for the 522 and StG44.
The 522 is a HK MP5 copy but in .22LR and the StG, well, it's a StG44! Full size and quite heavy! And also in .22LR! The StG has a model which comes in full battle rust finish, looks like it was dug out of the rubble in Stalingrad from 70 years ago. I forgot to take pics of them. Will try tomorrow. I told them the HK 94, MP5 were prohib in Canada but apparently being a .22LR, it may be ok??

They also have a MP-40 remake on display. That one is in 9mm. They didn't submit that for FRT.

You are correct about the 522. The first guy I spoke to said they were trying for the approval but his English wasn't that good. I went back the next day and the other rep said no way for the 522. I forgot to correct my post. The StG weighs about 10 lb loaded! 9.92lbs empty!

The technicians from the CFC in Ottawa are at the Shot Show, we are going to foot the bill for their trip.
No wonder the are taking over a year to check the serial number and internals on my 12-3 FN FAL.
