so my dad liked my Sig 1911-22 so much he went and picked one up for himself.
he liked the color of mine, he liked the Hogue grips and liked everything about it so he decided to get the exact same thing.
it wasnt till we where at the range shooting and i got to see his for the first time up close that i realized that he had picked up the GSG.

so we exchanged guns, did some shooting, changed back, did some shooting.

then i tore both guns apart and compared them part for part.

now i know both are made by GSG.
i know both are made at the same factory.
i know they are the same gun.
but every once in a while you will hear someone saying that they arnt.
"ohh the sig has a different guide rod"
"ohh the sig has different paint"
ohh this and that.

so i took apart both guns and compared every piece to the other gun.
these guns are EXACTLY the same.
every..... single..... piece!

so should this topic ever come up again please point the person to the following pics or send me a PM as i made a video as well about comparing the 2 guns, i just didnt post it as i didnt think there would be that much interest in it, but i will if there is someone who want to see it.

also, i did take pics of each piece side by side and again if anyone wants ill upload and post them all if there is a want.

cheers!

I've got a really early gsg and all I can say is some of the early one's have s*!t finish like a bb gun finish. So you might argue that the finishes from the old gsg to the new sig and gsg are different and if you own a older gsg and seen a new sig you might think they had a better finish.

Typically the gsg sells for between 375 and 425 while the sig sells for 450-500. I'm waiting for my gsg 22 blue/walnut from wolverine. Should be here begining of next week. I got it delivered to my door with an extra mag for 490 all in.

Thanks for the review. I've got a GSG and I've heard a lot of Sig owners say that the fit and finish on their Sig versions are better.

My GSG slide seems to be made of some pretty soft alloy, and the notch where the slide stop sits is starting to wear out. I hope that they've sorted this out with the newer models.

i bought mine Dec 2012 just before Chrismas, like the gun except the paint. maybe the tan is better than black paint, it's too easy to come off.
i never put my gun on the hard/rough surface, but i found some marks (paint came off) around the front & rear edges on the slide.
other than that it's a great pistol.
thanks for the inside out comparision.

mine is a GSG 1911-22

Lucky for your dad! As I have stated I have a SIG and my brother has a GSG and very simply the sig is a better gun. The components have less machining marks (coarse cutter markings) and the finish on the SIG is impecable, the finish on the GSG actually shows a shoddy spray pattern were metal is visible.

My observations have been made after a full tear down, not a field strip. Your results may vary but you really haven't put any controversy to rest, you have done a good job of showing us the two guns in your posession!

Your dad got a great GSG and perhaps my brother got a poor one, regardless I have yet to see a nasty SIG and my SIG works better on any given ammo than my brother's GSG. I'd own either and do the work to make them work well.

Well you can also take detailed side by side pics otherwise it's just hot air at this point....
I mean one glaring incorrect statement you have is the "The components have less machining marks (coarse cutter markings)".... There isn't any machined parts on these guns....everything is investment cast, MIM, or stamped steel.

I'll post some photos about my hot air this weekend when I have a moment and I'll show you the machining marks that don't exist on a gun that no cutting tools have touched.

Please do....I have a GSG and every small part is cast/mim or stamped steel with the exception of the barrel if course....which is sleeved in aluminium or zinc or whatever they make these out of.
