Hey guys,

Bought a GSG 1911 tac. and absolutely love it. After taking it apart for a clean and oil, and shooting it, I noticed that the bottom left and right side of the slide was rubbing slightly on the frame. This has cuased the paint to rub off and scratch quite badly. I understand this may sound like I put the gun back together wrong however with my experiences I feel this is not the case. Is this common? could it be a slighly oversized slide or something? Its too late now that the paint has worn off. It isnt causing any physcal or functional issues. Laslty would you reccomend a touch up product that may work or am I just gonna have to live with it? thanks for you help.

i had a similar problem and have seen another gsg 1911 with it. Actually i have quite a few spots on the gun that have paint wear just from normal use(every area that has metal to metal contact). In my opinion its not a very durable finish but for the price and for what it is, i personally dont mind.

same on all the gsg's i've seen. that is if they've been used. armacoat or duracoat at some later date is definitely a plan. just shoot it and have fun worry about the looks later. i'd sooner have a beat up looking gun that shoots than a safe queen any day.

Any advise for continuous light primer strikes on these guns?
I've put just over 600 rounds through it, so its plenty broken in, Tried 5 different brands of ammo. It seems to be less temperamental with CCI Mini Mags. However, still 3-5/10 rounds of each magazine suffer light strikes...
I know its just a plinker & I really enjoy shooting it, it's just rather annoying.

Do a full slide strip. Could be a gummed upper.

if you buy the gsg parts kit it comes with touch up paint if you really care about it

I just use a sharpy with mine and the wear on the side can be because you didn't put the slide stop all the way in it can still work and stick out abit that can cause some rubing on 1 side.

The wear is normal... U should see the wear on my M&P 40 that's seen 20,000+ rounds... And it still is ridiculously accurate and reliable. Everytime you pull the trigger, it goes bang. Without fail.

Point. Squeeze. Enjoy.

Good info about the gummed up upper. Can I also mention, not that you have been, but I have heard that dry firing a 22 is a big nono.

And, my gsg is losing paint on the under side of the barrel. Oh well, fun to shoot. Some day I will give it to my kids to play with (when they are old enough to own or go to the range), they will probably enjoy and abuse it, why worry now LOL!

Hello Marlin,

We have seen and heard of this happening with the GSG finish and we have brought it up with the manufacturer. As has been stated above there is touch up paint available in the GSG 1911 Spare Parts kits but we do not have any paint samples available separately. If there is anything we can be of assistance with please let us know.

Best regards,
Ryan Patterson

While I don't have one of these yet, I wonder if the wear will cease after "bedding in" or will continue till something needs replacing. I have 2,000+ rounds through my TT-33 and have no appreciable wear after the initial wearing in process. Different firearm for sure, but it's my only reference other than my Ruger Mk II.
Cheers!!
