At first, I didn't take the GSG16 seriously, thinking it was just a plastic MP5 lookalike toy. Nothing appeared high quality at first glance, so I went to GP and bought more plastic furniture for it, modded it, and eventually got tired of it...

I took the GSG out every time I went out because it's so cheap to run and the most inexperienced shooter can handle it safely. As time went by, I started to notice that it hadn't got jammed on me once, even I didn't care to make sure the bolt face or feeding ramp was clean! I began to feed it hotter 22lr like minimag and stinger, wanting to see how long it would last before a total breakdown. For an entire year, I took it to the crownland to shoot clays, a steel challenge match, and to new shooter events nonstop... It just kept shooting...

Eventually, it got so dirty that the buildup at the flash hider formed a carbon/lead plug and started to clip the bullets, decreasing the accuracy from 5moa to 15moa LOL. Took me 10 minutes to punch the gunk out... Hey, back to 5moa:ROFLMAO:

Now I'm pushing it to a 10,000 round count. Maybe do a meltdown video for the last 500 shots? To be continued...

How did I burn that much ammo?!

Interesting - thanks for the write up. Kinda impressive performance, maybe? I'm torn, the feedback on these is 5MOA kinda all over the place but I want one kinda bad. How hard is the plastic mp5 clone furniture to source/install?

IMO, accuracy, like speed, is relative. The short barrel GSG is more ergonomic (not front heavy) like the long barrel version for plinking or action shooting, and the long barrel ones are better for small games.

There are many 3D printed ones on GP, but the ones made for airsoft are better. (Some are made with metal!)

5moa is moreso the accuracy of someone standing and shooting a semi auto. They do better then that off a bench.

Really easy. All you do is DM some person here on CGN and ask about it. I think their name started with a J or something...

Then read other reviews. There are dozens of reviews on here for them. That deal with accuracy.

People think plastic guns don't last.

I should have clarified, it was more a figure of speech that the range of reviews both good and bad are a spread lol. Not a jab at the accuracy of the system. That being said, I've read a lot of ppl poo pooing the quality of the gsg 16, and a few who say its good to go. So maybe I'll get one but then again maybe not. Tough sell! Write ups like these are encouraging, however.

That’s awesome! Now I want mine back! I sold it to buy the derya tm22…..no regrets there but this post is making me want another. I also had the 9” me and the kids (my daughter and her friends) loved it as well. I put close to 4000 rnds down mine and it shot just fine as well! I had trouble getting the mp5 stuff for it though so that played a factor in selling it. After I’m done my current build maybe I will grab another. Hope mp5 furniture can still be sourced. Thanks for the post!

Broke the Cherry on one three weeks ago or so and a brick later the gun is running just fine. Gotta clean it one of these days but not just yet. Looking at getting the longer barreled ones that are on sale right now. You never can have enough of a good thing. I figure two mags are about $80 with tax and shipping and a new gun comes with two mags so I kill one itch and end up with two carbines at not a big price.

If you are on the fence, get off it the little guns are well worth the money. I got my buddy in Pr, George shaking in his boots. Can't wait to get to one of his shoots next spring. John dem is fighting words. Get practicing. :>)

We have owned two of these for maybe 4-5 years now and ours have been incredibly reliable. The wife has been using hers for Speed Steel events for at least 3 years now and I would estimate she has over 10k thru hers at this point. I’m shocked at how ridiculously reliable hers has been, it gives her no issues whatsoever and she is fast and accurate with it, cannot complain, the value for dollar she has gotten from that little carbine is amazing. I’ve run the living crap out of mine and I’m definitely over 10k on it. I just took it to a ladies day at one of our local ranges and it was run non stop all day long with over 100 ladies in attendance.
If you have been on the fence about one of these I can honestly say ours have been an exceptional value for the cost. I would recommend the GSG16 with absolutely no hesitation

That's simply amazing! GSG should take notes and provide metal upper, rail, and barrel clamp upgrades for those willing to. The little carbine deserves some metal!

For those who think polymer guns are not sturdy or are cheap and should be metal I say this to them.....does the word "Glock" mean anything to you or "striker fired pistols". ????
I'm a M&P, Walther fan and dislike Glock pistols but not for their inability to withstand the harshest of conditions.
Full confession, I just bought a 2nd GSR 16 - the 16" version yesterday from Marstar. They are on for $449.99 a steal.

Take Care

I bought mine from G4C $439.99 with free shipping two weeks ago. They are still listed at that price.

Got mine when it first came out. Rebarrelled to a shorty via DLASK. It shoots like a laser, definitely better than 5 MOA.

Been dying to put some mp5 wood furniture on it. If anyone knows where I can source the stock and hand guard (bonus points for wooden dong) please let me know.
