Guelph provincials, now with some top 3 results

I would have gone, (BC) but it cut right into my work week, 4- 12hr shifts, +1 10hr shift just to attend, that is almost 60hrs of leave, and would only leave me with 30hrs for the rest of the year, as I took some time for my sons BLack badge course already....I think at least 4 or 5 shooters from NB are going.

BTW, (RE: Ontario Provincials).... any way we can see the results or even a cut and paste of top 10-15 in each division?

gotta love it, full USPSA results(overall and stages) are available online within a few hours of a major match being completed, we have to wait days for ours

Come on, cut them a little slack, I'm sure there is a reason... The results are available, right, they were displayed yesterday, so there must be some reason why they weren't just posted (network problem, PC crashes, etc) - s**t happens, right? I'm sure they'll be there sometime today.

From memory:

Std: some US shooter, Mike B, Wade S, Rob E ; top Lady: Sarah L
Open: Alex S, Mike A, Allan S ; top Lady: Doni S
Prod: omen, Jamieson, Kent; top Lady: Gloria G
Rev: Hugh

A few people turned down team slots because they are attending the area 8 championship instead, that didn't sit well one of the members.

Hmmm.... interesting... I'm one of those, I'm afraid, but that really had mostly to do with the logistics of going to BC this year, for the whole week, vs driving 5h each way, for a long weekend. For those of us who work on contract, there are no paid vacations - each day away from work is several hundred dollars of lost income - I think it's up to each individual person to decide when they are willing to eat that, and when they aren't... The nationals might be a nice match, but for the cost, I'll go to Area 7, Area 8, AND NS provincials - and I think I'll have more fun at those 3 combined than in the one match in BC... (plus I know stage drawings don't always represent the stages as they will be built, but to me, it looks like the nationals are going to be mostly about shooting through ports and around barricades - nothing wrong with that, but it just doesn't excite me as much as the aforementioned 3 matches put together do).

Sorry if someone doesn't agree with that, but heck, it's my money and my time, and we're doing this just for fun, right? It's up to each individual to maximize the fun factor :D :D

Mike...

Results were posted at the range 16 minutes after the last shot was fired. Too bad you couldn't be there...

I apologise for not posting the results immediatly after my 6.5 hour return drive home (traffic was bad)...but it was 3 am and I was tired (even a bit cranky)

Everything has been submitted...I'll try harder next time.

The people who prepare and post your results are volunteers. If you are not satisfied with the service, step up and volunteer to do the job yourself.

I'm not complaining about the submitting time, I wouldn't expect you to do that after a 6 hour drive or a 1 hour drive for that matter, it's the lag between submitting and it being online. How hard would it be to set up a page on the ontraio site that the stats people could upload directly too from the match? You click one button to print the results and one to upload to the site rather then sending to another party and having to wait untill they get time to do it? It's not a new idea the system's allready up and running across the border.

Who has the time to jump through all the hoops that you need to jump through to volunteer in this sport.

According to the IPSC Ontario site nothing has been submitted as of noon today.

I'm sure every club has someone with a wireless card or a member with internet access close to the range. There was no interent acces on the range for the Targeting ED/Worldshoot Qual but we got the results uploaded daily.

how many clubs in Ontario have Internet access...

ok, ok, I want to make sure I'm not jumping into an argument here, I'm not taking sides in this exchange, but in fairness, one thing needs to be pointed out here: isn't there free wireless internet access available at most hotels these days? Even after you check out, you can still connect from the parking lot, enough to submit/mail the results file... or ask someone who lives 30min from the range to do it for you, if the hotel route is not an option...
Waiting until the next morning for the full results isn't a problem, but there are things we can do to see those posted sooner - if those are not problematic, expensive, or bothersome, why not take advantage of it? In the days of wireless access, USB flash keys, WiFi enabled phones and PDAs, there are other ways to have the results be posted other than demand that the stats people do it from home, after arriving half dead at 3am after a 7h drive back.. ?

I'm sure each club is doing thier best to get the results up.. to be expecting more is just unreasonable. An extra 6-12 hours won't kill anyone.. World peace is not hinging on who scored 34th in Senior Standard.
