I'm taking the course in Dec and I'm trying to figure out what club to join. If I want to bring my girlfriend shooting with me sometimes, would it be OK to just bring her as a guest? At what point would she need to get her PAL and her own membership?

She has no interest in owning a gun...she just wants to shoot mine! LOL

Our club allows a guest to come 3 times, after that no more, and they should think about joining the club as a member. However we do have the option of family memberships as well.

Unless she is going to be buying her own firearm, she does not need a PAL, as long as she is in direct supervision by someone with the right credentials for the type of firearm they are assisting her to use and instruct.

Some clubs offer family memberships that are only marginally more expensive than a single.

Having said that, if your gf likes shooting, she should get her license.....less to worry about with guest/supervising, firearm accessibility, etc. And then she can also own her own guns. :)

where do you live? my range doesn't care, just buy a day pass and you're good to go, long as you have your PAL your guest doesn't need it either

I rarely go to my range near Victoria without a guest. Either the GF or some of my friends come with me if I am not with another range member. I think teaching people how to shoot a firearm is as fun as shooting.

ya, my range is 3 times then they must join, which is weird cause id pay full membership for a guest pass aswell just so they can shoot with me until they get a license, plus my club has joining course only like 3 times a year which sucks

Our membership is the same price for individuals or families. We'd have no problem with a common law GF listed on a family membership AFAIK.

Most clubs I have been to seem to have 3 times as a general rule of thumb for guests as we do. This does not include leagues like IDPA, IPSC and PPC.

I'm told Sharon didn't have a limit on guest visits until one particularly annoying perpetual guest raised the neck hair of one too many executive members.
