I recently procured a new Bersa Thunder 9 Pro from one of the dealers. Received it yesterday and noticed that, when completely in battery, the rear edge of the slide protrudes by a few mm beyond the rear edge of the frame.

Can anyone who owns this pistol or has experience with it guide me if this protrusion is normal ? If possible, please post a picture.

FWIW - was told verbally by the dealer that this is normal, but my google-fu did not turn up anything either confirming or denying their assessment. It just doesn't "feel" right.

this is a warranty issue, contact the seller Edit: I just saw that you said the dealer said this is normal ...

This is not normal in my opinion. I would not buy a pistol that is assembled like this. This is certainly not MILITARY SPEC as they claim, and it should be fixed.

Hope you can get this sorted out with them.

Cheers

Update: The retailer confirmed with pictures that the entire batch that they have on hand looks the same as mine (with the protrusion) and offered to accept a return on my pistol for a refund. So it appears that the manufacturing tolerances are quite inconsistent on these pistols. A shame, as loved the feel and look of it. Will keep a sharp eye out for any that show up in the near future but will be vigilant to inspect it thoroughly before buying.

Good learning and good service too! Thank you all for your assistance.

Thank you sooo much for posting this. the Bersa 9 was next on my list. I had read so much "good" about these.
That PIC looks like a zastava tokarev I once bought.......an absolute Mess.

All: Just an update that it appears that the Dealer that I bought from is still circulating this defective stock and is resorting to shady tactics when confronted with a return.

So, potential buyers: be advised to request pictures of the ACTUAL pistol to rule out this issue before committing to buy.

That is troubling news.
