Guidance Needed

i dunno, Dlask might be great stuff, but if you don't NEED a custom gun then there's a handful of choices with lower cash outlay and much less waiting around.

so, ya, $1200 is too much if $800 will work just as well and meets your requirements. that $400 diff can get you 1,500 rounds of 9mm ammo fairly comfortably (SFRC). but that's just me, and i don't particularly enjoy wasting money or overpaying for anything.
 
If you really like the feel of a 1911 it might be worth your while to pick up a good 22 to gain more experience (you said that you didn't have alot) without the need or expence of getting into reloading. I can personally recommend the Ruger 22/45 as I am a long time 1911 fan myself and have put thousands of rounds through my Ruger over the last 15 years with no problems.a couple of other 1911 22's are the Chiappa 1911-22 and the GSG 1911 that blue line activities is currently selling.Do the research and pick one....the ruger gets my vote!! regards Mike
 
If Beretta (great pistol) was too big for you I'd recommend a CZ 75 or M&P9. Glock will likely be too big and if your hands bruised for a 92FS glock is going to chew them up! 1911 is alright too.
 
Well.... I took what everyone had to say and called my local dealers. I found a brand new sti spartan in 9mm for 700 bucks which I am extremely happy about. Handled the gun and I love it, and for the price I couldn't pass it up. The next closest 9mm 1911 was over 1200 bucks locally. They also have a german made knock off 22 1911 for 350 I was looking at but decided to go with a 9mm.

Congrats on the STI .... but be advised, the 1911 can be addictive in all calibers!! Enjoy the new pistol and keep us updated on your progress Regards mike
