Guide gun sights

not what I wanted
Williams FP 336 hangs over gun on both sides
Is the Williams WGRS-336 more compact
There is no picture on the web site I found
I got this one from WGP Edmonton so can probably return it (unopened)
any help greatly appreciated

I vote for the XS ghost ring as well, but my guide gun is my fishing companion so I'm only looking for minute of grizzley at 50 yds.

If all you are looking for is that, practice with the factory sights, unless you hate them of course. My last bench shoot with mine the target looked almost identical to this:

The spread was a little wider and it was shot at about 80 yards, but will have no problem smacking a bear at the ranges you speak of. Man I wish I still had that target, wet snow killed that day including the last group I shot.

Actually the reason I went to to ghost ring was that I couldn't adjust the factory sights low enough, I was 8" high at 50 yds now I'm only about 3" high so I never cured the problem but I can probably live with that much kentuky windage. I guess the only other option would be to file down or replace the front sight.

On my .45-70 Marlin 1895GS I was thinking of going with ghost rings but opted to stay with the factory open sights. To help the eyes and for load testing I mounted a 1-4x Leupold Vari-X II with Weaver pivot mounts for quick access to the open sights if needed. With the ghost rings, would have had to go to a higher scope mount set up.

I went for the XS sight on my 336XLR also. Just like BCWILL's picture, and you also get the smaller apperture rear sight also. Awesome.

I've been using the FP-336 for 3yrs. lots and lots of carry time in the bush while hiking, guiding, camping. never had any issue with them. they are fantastic sights. you'll get used to the oeverhang

You need a slightly taller front sight, not a shorter one.

Yes it is more compact. I don't have pics handy, but it is about as wide as the XS gr sight pictured. Though not as stout as the XS, my wgrs-336 has held up fine for a couple of seasons in and out of a scabard. Aperture holes can be adjusted (drilled) to what works best for you, or go without the aperture, for a cheap GR . A GR insert can be bought from Williams too.

A quick note on the WGRS; it has very, very limited vertical adjustment.

I now use the XS's. ("winged" version w/ smaller aperture)
