Guide to building an AR style rifle?

ar15.com

It has a few build guides as well as armourer manuals available for download.

Likely some good videos on YouTube as well.

Grab yourself a stripped lower, basically any mil-spec lower parts kit, and YouTube is your friend. Good luck. I hope you have stronger willpower than I do...or your wallet is going to hate you.

Yeah, it's that simple eh? I'm not aware of any build sections or brands that are better then others.

As far as price goes, the EE here is probably your best bet. But, you'll have to do your homework, as some people here are right out to lunch on their used pricing. (IE... $10 off of new pricing is not gonna sell your stuff.)

I built my AR, about 50% from the EE here, but it's taken me the better part of 6 months.

What do you guys find to be the best site for ordering parts? The most selection? Best price?

Check out abhobbyist in the "ee", he has some great prices.

as far as buying parts your going to have use several dealers, there is nobody that carries everything..... one shot tactical, cowboy tactical, armseast (local to you), freedom ventures, SFRC, dstactical, wolverine supplies and questar.

for barrels and upper parts cowboy tactical is the best..... stripped recievers, buy an NEA one from SFRC, INEXPENSIVE....parts kits, everywhere has them, just add them to any order.

Ok, so you're useing used parts eh? And you haven't had any problems doing that? I diidnt really see much on the EE for ar parts. I'll have to look again. Thanks

Watch the videos, it isn't rocket science. But there can be some finicky bits...I often have a pain with the front takedown pin spring haha.

A browse of the Black Rifle forum should give you an idea of brands...Colt, Diemaco, Daniel Defense, LMT are top end. Aero, Dlask or NEA (both Canadian) are affordable. S&J Hardware is great dealer here and they usually have good stuff in terms of smaller parts.
