guides license

Are you talking Canadian or American? You can take a Canadian every year without a guides license. You can do the hunter/host thing for an american once every three years without a guides license. This is Alberta.

In Alberta, you must be a Canadian citizen to hold a guide permit for big game. The outfitter you plan to work for can issue you the permit and register it with APOS. After you get a guide permit, the folowing year you can register it on your own for the fee with APOS and work for any outfitter. With the guide permit YOU CAN NOT have/own any allocations/tags - you must be a registered outfitter for that.

Hunter/host is different altogether.

Kinda curious as to why someone from Ireland would want know....but to answer you're question, each CDN province has it's own guide requirements, from not required at all to only certain species etc.?
In NB for example, all non-res hunters and Atlantic Salmon anglers must employ a guide.a Guide1(Professional guide)here can guide up to 3 clients for a fee,but cannot hunt/fish himself at the same time.Guide2(licence to accompany)can guide 1 friend/relative but not for fee or reward, and can also hunt/fish at the same time.
