Gun ban question

does anyone know how a buyback would work on built rifles as the only part registered is the lower, would they have an appraised value as most of my AR's have high end parts....

They’d likely confiscate the registered component; that being your lower.

You could keep the rest, as none of the other components are controlled.

Buy back prices have already been stated by the thieves $650-$800 regardless. No compensation for any of your other related equipment or accessories.

They will take the whole thing period. It's not as if you could sell anything anyway.

The other components aren’t controlled now. Who knows what future legislation would have in it.

You’re right. I hadn’t considered that.

They could prohibit any parts of a firearm, as they already do for normal capacity magazines, and “hate speech” on social media.

Prison for your barrel blank, and your thoughts on social media. - sounds like progress to me.

These are dangerous times folks.

Take caution.

My take on the whole cluster of the current situation is as follows.

Shorty they will ban all semi auto centerfire rifles & some shotguns to prohibited with a OIC. That mystery prohibited class in C71 that had no firearms named to it, this is what it is for.

Once they are banned, you will not be able to take them to the range. I also doubt you will be able to sell them or change their status from say a AR15 rifle to frame only. You might be able to transfer them to a business that can have prohibited firearms.

After this new firearms legislation will be introduced in the House of Commons, covering ‘buy backs’ and I assume a whole re-write of all the firearms legislation. Whatever your worst fears are will probably be realized. I will assume at the least it will be similar to NZ legislation, plus ‘lessons learned’ from their experience. So yeah Full Retard description would basically scratch the surface. The Bloc, NDP & Greens will easily support this. So for the libs to stay in power as a minority government this is a no brainer. Semi auto owning firearms owners are currently low hanging fruit.

This will be a complete cluster duck, doesn’t matter how you cut it.

20-30 years into the future they will come after handguns. It’s a numbers game, they will just keep going after a different segments of the firearms we are currently allowed to own until we are left with bolt guns & break action shotguns. Eventually a new registry, home inspections of storage, psychological examinations, ammo limits, you name it.

Just like the bans in the 90’s they are thinking how much can we ban with the least amount of blowback? Go read history on firearms legislation in Canada. After C-68 the whole idea was every few years they would OIC all the ‘new’ semi auto-Pistol grip-detachable mag rifles to prohib. But the blowback from C-68 and the long gun registry was such that there was no political will in the libs to touch it. Until now, for whatever reason they have calculated that pissing off a % of firearms owners with bans will buy them more votes in their core urban voting districts. The libs are currently picking up right where they left off in the 90’s. This really should surprise no one. And once these are ‘bought back’, crushed, destroyed and gone the cons will NEVER touch this subject again, they will not see any political value in it.

The one silver lining to buying from IRG is they can re-export back to the US any firearm they import. Somewhat of a loop hole in US rules. For example if I bought a Daniel Defense AR15 in Canada through a local dealer who bought from the Canadian distributor, you can’t export it to the US. If I bought the same rifle from IRG you can export it to the US. That is assuming you will be allowed to transfer a newly prohib to IRG. Makes a good business case to buy from IRG something expensive, like a Knights Armament SR25.

Before people go calling me out. I have more too loose than most. I collect a Colt / Colt Canada / Diemaco rifles. I have a lot of rare stuff. I had a total of 20 AR’s. In the last 3 months I have sold 6 ARs in Canada, I have three that are currently being exported to the US (I only had 3 eligible for export) and I’m keeping by best of the best in my Colt Canada / Diemaco collection with hopes something positive will happen. I won’t even go into my NR collection.

So basically enjoy what you have while you can, go to the range as often as possible, buy lots of ammo and shoot all those barrels out while you can. We are totally and complete ducked, like just about every other western democracy.

Where did you hear this, lol. That's certainly no where near the numbers they said. Blair said fair market value, and mentioned the average cost is $1,500.

Everything other than those exact words are speculation.
