Gun barrel rib

When a rib is mounted on a barrel should the rib be flat or is it curved?
Your opinions are appreciated.

Are you talking about fluting that is machined into a barrel?

A rib is generally flat on the top and curved to match the barrel on the bottom. - dan

When looking down the barrel of this over under gun,the top of the rib is curved along its length. I checked with a long straight edge on top of the rib and is curver by almost 3mm from end to end.
My Remmington trap barrel has a perfectly straight and flat rib.
In my opinion, I would assume that all ribs would have been made flat but I'm not sure.
