I'm not the kind of guy who wants/can afford all the tacticool gear, but a gun belt (or at least a sturdy one) seems like a good investment.

Any recommended sources for affordable but sturdy belts in Canada?

Lof defence is what I plan on buying.

Regardless if you want to compete or not I would recommend any of Double Alpha’s IPSC belts. They’re very stiff, and having an inner and outer belt makes going to the bathroom and adjusting or swapping holsters and magazine pouches so much easier than a single belt. The only thing I would warn about is make sure your holster and mag pouches have adjustable attachments as Double Alpha’s belts are slightly wider/thicker than most.

I'm new to the gun belts as well I have been looking around for a couple weeks and what I can gather is a inner belt is a solid belt with a velcro outer side and goes threw your belt loops and the outer belt wraps around the inner belt minus the loops and then has a cobra buckle or something along those lines to make is extra ridged. That is my basic take on it I may be wrong so hopefully someone else can verify or correct me.

Thanks for the recommendations.

Pardon the ignorance, but what's the difference between inner/outer and double vs single belts?
An stiff inner belt stays with your pants and usually has a velcro material that mates up with an outer belt that holds all your gear.. easy off easy on

A 5.11 Operators belt is affordable and can be used as a regular everyday belt or a competition belt, many IDPA competitors use this belt and it serves it's purpose well without breaking the bank. Unless you plan on competing in IPSC or 2/3 gun competition a double belt is not necessary, although they are handy for dropping your gear quickly when nature calls :)

I've used a number of leather gunbelts from Milt Sparks, Bulman Gunleather, and The Belt Man. My next gun belt will be from Kore Essentials...it's micro adjustable.

Is the belt for daily wear or competition use? Big difference between the two.
Good question -- was thinking IDPA sort of "everyday" belt that happened to be super stiff and workable, but I'm happy to be persuaded.

Are you talking 'gun belt" or "battle belt"?
By "gun belt" I mean "belt stiff enough for use with a holster". Not something with a boatload of mag pouches and other compartments. Again though, if it's worth it to get an inner/outer belt where you can ditch the outer, I'm fine with that.

BladeTech Ultimate gun belt is a good one to look at that won't break the bank and will work well. I've been wearing one for a couple years now and it's been great.

Just ordered a cobra tactical belt. Havent come in yet but i liked the look of the buckle system and it said made in usa so went with them over other options.

For daily wear or IDPA, I like the Bladetech one. For IPSC, an inner/outer like the one from Doubletap, DAA, or CR Speed would be what I would choose.

I would suggest looking at Bigfoot Gun Belts. They are a sister company of Alien Gear holsters. I have a fantastic steel core leather belt from them, that is years old, comfortable, and holding up like new.
