Hi guys,

New to the world of black guns. For my hunting rifles I just have basic Plano cases....I would like something a bit more functional for my soon to be coming AR.

I am on a budget so something in the under $100 range would be ideal.

I was looking at something like a Drago 36" single gun case

But it looks like it is only available in the states. Anyone recommend anything available with similar prices/features in Canada?

PELICAN STORM CASE for my BASK Savage with a Night Force Scope etc. Not under the $100 more into the $300-400 plus range. But it's protecting over 5k in rifle and scope etc. They do have soft cases with mag pouches ..OPTIMUM CASE AND LIGHT.

Well, I use a Bulldog Tactical Hybrid case that has somewhat rigid plastic panels in the sides to give it some stiffness and helps protect from some bumps. However, the case is just a plain clamshell with two cheapnasty pockets on the inside. I bought it with the express intention of tearing it apart and modifying it and restitching it. I added some retention straps on the inside so everything doesn't pile together in the bottom of the case. Can't really recommend it to anyone who's not going to MacGuyver it.

I later bought a Hazard 4 Takedown Evac bag, which is great, except the zippers don't have locking tabs. Great for the US, not so great for restricted transport in Canada.

One of the great things about ARs is that they're extremely easy to take down, and that gives you many more transport case options.

Pelican is the way to go. I put a soft case in it and removed the foam, so I can pop the case open in the back of the vehicle and carry the soft case at the range.

I just got a Flambeau tactical case for about $60. It has an internal length of 40" which fits my longest restricted rifle. It is a decent case, can be padlocked, and is fairly light. Now it is nowhere near the rigidity and durablility of a Pelican case, and I wouldn't use it to transport a gun on an airline, but for just the normal transporting to and from a range, it is perfectly fine.

The Plano "All Weather" cases are the best buy IMO. They can be found online for under $100 or at Canadian Tire for about $150. They're tough, lockable and they have the pre cut pluckable(sp) foam. I've got 6 of these and love them. I've got the 36" and 42" models

I found a Plano Gun Guard All Weather 42" Tactical Case at Wholesale Sports in Wpg for $100 a few months ago.

If you have access to an American address, order the voodoo tactical 36" soft case from amazon.com. Works out to about $100cdn after exchange. It has the zippers that can be locked with a little padlock.

I noticed the plano cases are a lot cheaper on amazon.com compared to amazon.ca , if I ordered it from .com will they ship to Canada?

Pelican 1720 all the way, I'd go 1700 if it's an sbr like mine
