When traveling from home to the club do you put your AR-15 in a gun case? I dont but i do have a trigger lock on it while traveling back and forth. So i am wondering if the law is the same for a restricted rifle vs hand guns while traveling from home to the range?

Thank's

Plus, a trigger lock isn't the best idea for inhibiting the AR's use. Unless exceptionally large, the trigger lock can be bypassed by opening the trigger guard (via takedown pin). Would be better to lock it with a chain/cord/cable lock that can go through the magazine housing and out the ejector port.

As pc9 said, it does need to be in a locked solid gun case or lock container of the sort when transported to range.

It must be disabled with a trigger lock or similar device, be locked inside lockable case that is not see through. It also should be somewhere in the vehicle that is not in view.

Indeed it needs to be locked in something (besides the car) and also have either a trigger/cable lock on or a critical part removed ie. bolt... These same regs apply to any restricted firearm be it pistol, AR, etc.

edit: it is probably worth mentioning that non-restricted firearms do not have to be locked or dissabled in any way for transport

You are in Quebec, everything is F***-up since Charest and is #9 law...

HARD, OPAQUE & LOCKED CASE is the way here + trigger lock too of course.

Un-restricted has to be locked too, the #9 is about transport, so they can add restrictions to the federal law...

So wait, do you need a locked case and trigger lock? :p
