Gun coatings

Fwiw,I was recently quoted $160 to hydro-dip either a one piece stock or a complete/assembled rifle or shotgun. Not sure if it would be appropriate to name the non-sponsoring business here on the forum, but suffice it to say it is an established business in Red Deer and they offer over 200 camo patterns to choose from, which translates to literally thousands of base color/camo dip combinations to create.....ie; I'm planning to get my Tan/Keymod XCR done there if & when I finally decide on the pattern.....my "short list" of camo candidates is down to around 20 patterns give or take, haha.

Impressive handiwork! Those gats look good.

Not to shoot down anyones bussiness, but Cerakote is pretty easy to apply, I did 3 rifles and 1 pistol with an airbrush set without prior experience and they turned out great.
I baked them in my own oven (the one where I make my food in), the temperature isn't that high, so no aftertaste or smell on the food. (I only painted AR15's, so I didnt need a big oven)

hydro dip this is used in a few retail rifle & shot guns offered from Savage & Remington and from what I have seen I'd never do it. hydro dip is like a scab once you get a scratch, it will keep coming off.
It might look good at first but then later you will be unhappy. Cerakote / Duracoat it at least.

I figure you used Burnt Bronze for the first 2 guns, I like that color.
but what colors did you use to do the AR15 & what did you use for the kryptek pattern ?

I'ts not pure Burnt Bronze, there is some Graphite Black mixed into it to get it a bit darker.

The Kryptek was:
- burnt bronze
- Titanium
- Tungsten

I work at a company with a cutting plotter. I found some kryptek files online and made the stencils at work.
Applying them was a nightmare, but the results are pretty cool.

It's already factory Cerakoted in FDE,the hydro-dip camo pattern will be applied over the CK/FDE base.
I'm fairly confident the finish will be plenty durable for my intended use as a plinker/varmint hunter,I'm not using my rifle as a toboggan to descend rock slides.
