I'm quite curious if you know something about? Thanks in advance ;)

None right now don't do it ! Ruger (rgr) and smith and Wesson (aobc) and (vsto) cabelas (cab) dicks outdoor sports (dks) as you see there all in decline if you think there will be an uptick in sales go for it. Keep in mind the government in the states is pretty gun friendly they don't have the greatest gun salesman of all time (Obama) pushing for gun control gun sales being an unintentded consequence. If Hillary was president I would have dumped my life savings into smith and Wesson and ruger shares. These companies are still way overvalued based on past gun sales from past government there balance sheets must adjust first wait a while and see how much more they correct before rising again.just my two cents

so price is low now, in the long run would this not be the time to buy?

I dunno 8 years of abnormally high guns sales.... and prolonged ressesion depression and at least 3 possibly 7 years (of trump) to wait to buy the gun you have on your list because there is no fear of having the law change and that possibility evaporate. Americans only buy guns when they think that that privlage will be taken away. It's a real fear driven market, plus the hurricanes rebuilding costs the cost of ammmo is now inflated I think people are spending there money elsewhere these days. I think firearms related stocks will continue to decline unless something or some outside force dictates otherwise. Terrorist attack law change or repeal, mass shooting, price of base metals declining enough that people can afford the ammo. USA Joining the UN or something. I don't know to much about the stock market maybe you can bet against these companies going up. All you have to do is looks at (dks) for the broader picture here ps they sell a lot of guns and sporting goods. Then again maybe they will be bought out by cabelas I don't know dude it's your money and what the hell do I know I'm a stranger on the internet giving another stranger stock advice...... dks might very well be ripe for a buyout. Cabelas pretty recently bought out bass proshops so anything is possible. Aobc probably has more upside then say ruger but that's all my opinion dude take it with a grain of salt
Cheers

Definitely keep an eye on RGR and AOBC. They aren't overvalued at their current prices, but Nick is right and they might still slip a bit further down. They had to discount products to turn inventory and dealers aren't moving as much since Trump (for reasons stated above), but this has already been priced into the current valuation for the most part. Long term they'll eventually go up the next time the Dems get into power.

In the interim if you must, you can invest in Aerospace and Defense. I did right before Trump won!

Since Trump was elected President gun sales seem to have gone down significantly in the US and it doesn't look like that is going to change anytime soon. I think for the next 3 or 4 years this really won't change and might even get worse. You might want to wait until the dust settles and things bottom out before investing significantly in the industry.

I agree that US retail customers are very much fear driven. There can't be too many consumer sectors that are this sensitive to politics.

I would ask two different questions. Where is the growth in the market? And, where will the products be produced? First, we've seen zombie, hunting, silhouette, paper target shooting, military surplus, F-Class, tacticool, preparedness, self-defence and ladies' product lines come into play. What is the next sector to grow the economy? Will it in fact be something like repurposing or (gag!) recycling and disposal? Secondly, Americans have an irrational attachment to Made in USA products. They'll buy more for less worthy consumer goods if it has the stars and bars. Foreign products have to be noticeably more attractive to get much attention.

One final thing, the more I go to the big box outdoor stores, the more I am impressed by the supply chain arrangements some companies have. There can be a lesser product dominating the shelf space and everyone knows it, but seemingly that company has better terms, restocking and return policies than the other better company. Ever wonder why there is just about every single item loaded by one company when you know nobody shoots 70% of those cartridges? That kind of back-end to retail might be hard to discern, but it will make or break the business.

There is Vista Outdoors VSTO(NYSE).

That's a (sub) company ultimately owned by Alliant Techsystems - ATK (NYSE).

Vista owns a few brands you might be familiar with:

Bushnell, Weaver, Simmons, Millett, Night Optics, Tasco, Primos, Gold Tip, Black Hawk, RCBS, Champion, Butler Creek, Uncle Mike's, Eagle, Hoppe's, Outer's, Federal Ammunition, CCI, Speer, Aliant Powder, Blazer, American Eagle, Fusion - and let's not forget Savage Arms and Stevens, plus at least a dozen smaller/less known brands.

You should be able to find something in that bunch that you can relate to :)
