Gun engraving

Could anyone tell me about getting a trap gun engraved. I just got a Citori XT trap as a gift from my Dad and would like to get it engraved, just with I think my name and date. Resale is not an issue as it will be something that I keep and pass down. Is it possible to engrave this gun? What places would you recommend for this? Will this damage the finish in any way making it more prone to corrosion? or will a good place engrave it then refinish it? Any information at all would be greatly appreciated!

Contact Jason at Gunco in Nepean. He doesn't engrave, but there is an engraver who does work for him. Do a search for Claven2's custom Rem. 700 to see the quality.

that does look classy! very clean look to it.
So what order is this done? 1. insert oval/escutcheon; 2. Engrave? or
1. Engrave; 2 Insert oval/escutcheon? (this might be easier than bringing the gun to a jewelry store! lol)
Also, would any gunsmith be able to insert the escutcheon?

I would have it engraved first and inlaid after, just so you don't risk having the engraver scratch your stock. A gunsmith should be able to inlay the oval, and so should a good detail woodworker, such as those who refinish antique furniture. Given care and patience, you can do it yourself, practice on a 2X4 first.
