Hello,
I'm looking to get a barrel on a rifle engraved and im currently looking for someone in Ontario who has a proper four axis machine that can do the programs. If anyone can point me in the right direction it would be appreciated.
Thanks.

What are you trying to get engraved? That'll spell out really quick, if you are dreaming or may have a chance of finding someone that will do it.

How much do you think it should cost? That'll determine whether the guys that invested all that money in a 4 axis CNC machine will listen, laugh at you to your face, or simply ignore you and hope you go away.

I've dealt with a little CNC engraving on flat stock. Even there, it's a PITA to get nice even engraving depths.
Bringing in anything other than a cylindrical barrel in to be engraved is going to be $$$$, as the setup is a killer.

Maybe your design would be suitable for a laser engraving shop to run? Would take care of the odd contours of a profiled barrel.

How much are you willing to spend, is gonna be the biggie!

i've already done set up in writing out the program since i work in cnc design and the likes so setup should cost next to nothing in that case. Its just a simple picture and depths and such arent hard either since its got a massive barrel on the gun. im damn well aware of the price itll cost to get done since id need a 4 axis and not a 3 axis. my brother got our late fathers signature engraved on one of his old 1911s but since the guy did it in 3 axis i cant use him cause its all he has.

It's not the programming set-up that's going to cost you, it's the time to set up the barrel on the machine to have any or all of the engraving come out at depths resembling the cad work.

I could be wrong (been before!) but I don't think you'll find very many places, if any at all, that will touch this one.

Good luck, though.

Cheers

I may be the person who did the 1911.
