Looking for a gun fitter in the Kingston/Ottawa area to ensure my 12g is fitting me right. Having some trouble on hitting some targets and want to ensure gun it fitting me right.

If you ever head to Montreal.. gunsmith Daniel Sell (based out of CRAFM in Lachine) is extremely knowledgeable when it comes to fitting fine rifles and shotguns. I have seem him working for quite literally WEEKS carving and fitting stocks to individual customer measurements. He knows his stuff.

If you don't mind crossing the border, you can try Mark Deprez in upsate New York.

He does excellent work.

I found that a patterning board will give you lots of information about where your gun shoots. You can also tell a lot by looking at your hits...tops..bottoms..edges etc.

Many minor adjustments you can probably handel yourself. Length of pull and high combs are fairley easy to correct. Don't be afarid to take sandpaper to a stock, if it doesnt fit who cares if it's pretty. A few applications of Tru-Oil will make it look like new again.

If all else fails replacement stocks are available from Wenig quite reasonably. They come inletted and roughly formed. You provide the labour and make it custom fit to you.

Klaus Hiptmayer is THE MAN.
Competition Trap and Skeet and Sporting Clay shooters from New England States, Maritimes,Montreal ,Eastern Ontario put their trust in Klaus to get it right.
His shop is located in Eastman Quebec.....near Magog.Exit 106 on Eastern Township Autoroute......then about 4 miles to his shop.
I do not even shoot a new shotgun until having it fitted to me by Klaus.
PM me for his phone number if you wish.
