Hi,
I would like to use a .270 WSM gun for coyote hunting in areas like Brant, Haldimand, Halton, Essex (all in S Ontario). Occasionally I would like to be able to use the same gun (but with more grain ammo) for deer as well.
Ontario Hunting Regulations says: "A person hunting small game may not carry or use a rifle of greater calibre than a .275-calibre rifle, except a
muzzle-loading gun, in the geograhic areas of of Brant,
Chatham-Kent, Durham, Elgin, Essex, Haldimand, Halton,
Hamilton, Huron, Lambton, Middlesex, Niagara, Norfolk,
Northumberland, Oxford, Peel, Perth, Toronto, Waterloo,
Wellington or York."
1. Is a .270 WSM gun legal for small game in those regions (although the gun is labelled as .270 WSM it's bullet diameter is actually .277 inches). I asked this first question in the "legal" section and received some contradictory answers, therefore I would need clarification here where more hunters comment.
2. Would this be a good choice for coyote (mainly) and deer?
Thank you!
