Gun Mods + Production = Yes/No?

I have an XD-9 and am seriously thinking about getting into production -- that being said the trigger is heavy and not as crisp as I would like... can I get a trigger job or is that verboten?

What can you do to a gun without bumping it from "Production"?
 
I am not that familiar with the XD, but I am unsure of the XD custom shop and what is allowed. Popurhedoff is the person to ask.
Probably available different trigger weights as a Glock is available with different disconnectors. (!?)
 
As long as all the parts are still "factory", you can get a trigger job (eg lighten it a bit, but nothing for the take up or reset)

you can't change the springs, or modify any internals, pretty mush just stone the sear etc.
 
I wonder what the rule would be in regards to placing parts from a usedv model of pistol into a new model of the same pistol?

Take it apart...polish the internals to a mirror finish....an hours labour...production legal...and save the cost of 15000 rounds of ammo.....

In an effort to save myself from going totally insane, below are actual questions I've been asked over the past twelve months, many of them repeatedly. The simple answer is at the bottom of the page but, if you really, really, really can't find the reason for my answer in Appendix D4 of the rule book, ask me (after donning your Level IV Kevlar and Nomex).

Springfield Armory's Custom Shop is not recognized as factory OEM by IPSC, therefore their custom parts and/or labour are not allowed on a Production XD.
An XD's trigger will smooth up nicely all by itself after a couple of thousand rounds.

This is a two part question which has a Yes and a No answer

No. you are not allowed to put tape on any part OTHER then the grip.

But.. YES you can put ANY kind of tape on the grip.

D4, states "and/or the application of tape on grips is permitted, however, rubber sleeves are prohibited."

it does not specify which kinda of tape is allowed, so if it's labled as "Tape" (in this case electrical) it is allowed.

You can polish or deburr the trigger mech, but no aftermarket parts...
 
minor detailing is allowed apparently. I am still unsure what that means other than removing of plastics shavings or metal burrs that got thru Q.C. at the factory.
 
polishing does help with a smoother and crisper trigger...

the trigger pull on the XD isn't bad from factory, better than a regular Glock.
