I have a friend that has an old Remington Wingmaster shotgun that was not firing every time. I took it apart, inspected it and found nothing wrong with the trigger assembly or the rest for that matter! I cleaned the gun, and put it back together to find it is now working fine!? Has anyone ever had this happen to them? Can someone explain what they think may have happened?
Thanks!

what was happening? the firing pin wouldnt strike the primer... or the gun wouldnt "####"... what was it doing?

Could very well have been malfuntioning due to being dirty....

Nope!! I checked it, it was in fine shape! It would work every time I pulled the trigger when it was apart! When at his house, it would not fire, I took the barrel off, inspected the firing pin, etc, and found nothing wrong! But you could pull the trigger all the way back, and nothing! At my house when I stripped and cleaned it, put it back together, it worked fine?!! I pulled the trigger assy out of the gun, nothing seemed to be out of place, or broken!

Maybe your friend took the gun apart to see how it worked, and didnt put it back together correctly. I knew of a guy who took his mossberg apart, and when he put it back together he couldnt rack it.. I took it apart and re-assembled it for him.. worked fine. Sometimes it may be something out of place, or just a little out of allignment.. causes friction or malfunction.
Glad you got it fixed though!

Me too!! I told him I would fix it for him, but I really didn't know what was wrong in the first place! I like fixing things, and telling the person what you did to fix it!! I had to tell him I was not sure what was wrong, but it's fixed!!:D

"...I cleaned the gun..." The bolt was likely full of assorted gunk. Although, like the others have said, it is possible he had taken it apart himself and didn't get it back together properly. It doesn't take much improper assembly to stop a hammer falling.

Lol, reminds me of the time I spent about an hour trying to get the damn slug barrel back on my Win1300 before I realized it was actually my Dad's Mossberg slug barrel.
