Gun oil and cleaner recommendations

Just received my first handgun on Wednesday (Walther P99 AS 9mm...ty CanadaAmmo) and was wondering if I could get some recommendations on some gun oils and cleaner.

I use "Crud Buster" spray for my trigger group to removed brass debris and then re-oil with Rem Oil after using Hopps 9 on everything else that's dirty. If I do a complete tear down (aka a 5000 round maintenance) then everything gets loved with a nylon brush and Hopps 9. Add oil on reassembly and gtg.

Only thing else I would use is Sweets if you see a large amount of copper in the barrel. As it's a first handgun it'll probably take a while for you to see something like that, lol!

I use eezox to clean and slide glide on the slide. Both work well.

I bought the Outers Universal Gun Cleaning Kit at Canadian Tire. $16.00 and has all the fittings, extensions, patches, cleaner and oil. I use it on all my guns... works great. You just have to buy a separate bore brush if you want one.

i use g96 gun treatment for oiling and cleaning.
if there is stuff harder to get off, like if i had a busy day at the range ill put G96 nitro solvent down the barrel..sometimes ill soak a patch in g96 and leave it in the barrel a few min while i clean the frame and slide.

REMOIL....I like it, does a pretty good job on carbon, has Teflon to help lube. I use outers foaming bore cleaner to remove copper

MPro-7 cleaner and LPX oil, TW25B grease and Break-Free foam copper remover are simply the best stuff to clean and lube. Period.

+1 for frog lube. Heat up the metal with a hair dryer and it goes on like butter.

I like Gunzilla or MPro7 for cleaning because they don't have any nasty fumes like most petroleum-based solvents, but just about anything will do the job.

You can also make your own "Ed's Red" by mixing equal parts ATF, mineral spirits, kerosene, and acetone. This is at least as good as any of the commercial petroleum-based cleaning solvents and is far less expensive.

Grease is best for lubricating sliding surfaces; plain old automotive grease is just fine. For oil, just buy a quart of ATF or synthetic motor oil and you will have a lifetime supply. Cleaning kits often come with a small bottle of oil. Keep the bottle after you use up the oil that came in it and you can refill it with the motor oil or ATF.

I have tried next to near every type of product out there and have some what settled on this.

Bore- eds red or good old hoppes 9 if copper remover is needed i use mpro7 copper remover.

Lube-mpro7 synthetic or if im using grease i use bearing/axle grease

General cleaning- mpro7 cleaner or eds red

Everything gets a good whipe down with g96

I just got a few cans of balistol and have been using it on my gp100 with great results. I have tried froglube and feel it is over rated and a pain in the butt. Gunzilla didnt work worth a crap for me and the origional bottle i bought has been through 3 friends who also feel the same. I do not believe in a single do all CLP.

IMHO g96 products or mpro7 are top notch. I used to hunt waterfowl with a 870 supermag, every good downpour when i got home it already had surface rust. That was when i was using remoil. I changed to g96 and never had that issue again.

Another great product for carbon is sea foam deep creep available at most canadian tire stores. I it on my AR in thoes hard to clean areas and also for the gas ports on all my semi shotguns. The carbon just falls right off.

Im lazy. A good one step is good enough for me. I ise either G96 or breakfree. Ive been wanting to try gunzilla. But you still cant go wrong with good old hoppes. If my gun is really grimey i'll use hoppes solvent and then add the hoppes lube after. I also have some berry's gun oil. Hoppes lube is like clear super thin machine oil. My Norinco 1911 is nice and loose and likes thicker stuff, hence why i got berry's. I really need some grease for the slide but i dont shoot to many rds through it at once to ever worry about it

My personal favorite is MPRO 7 for carbon removal, Wipeout for copper removal, Weaponshield for lubricant/protector.

Also factor in cost/volume. Large containers of MPRO 7 are much more economical than many other cleaners, especially small bottles.
