Gun protection oils

Balistol here, also still have some old mil breakfree CLP, the stuff that separates into a big white lump on the bottom and makes you sterile...I don't use it as much anymore lol.
 
I started using Fluid Film about a year ago during the process of bringing a few old rifles back to life. I have been very pleased with the results it gets, especially for soaking piles of small parts. It seems to make light rust and freckling disappear and leaves a very rust resilient but not greasy coating once it is cleaned off parts. It works equally well on large bits like barrels and receivers. For just cleaned bores and routine bore touch ups I still, after 40 some years, rely only on Hoppes #9 to keep them looking good.

Yup been using that hornady one shot ever since I seen that test. Many years now. Hard to beat as a metal protector and as a lube. I do not use it as a lube in semi auto shotguns. It can eventually cause a gummy residue in gas shotguns. I use a mill spec clp for lube there.
 
Tried a bottle of Lucas gun oil maybe 10 years ago, and that's all I use ever since. Best oil I have tried, it doesn't evaporate off slides even if you run your gun hot. Kind of expensive here, but got a ten pack for $40 off Amazon in the USA, had it shipped to my daughter who lives in TX. Picked it up last visit. Anyway, I'm set for a few years I guess.

I'm another g96 fan. It's the only one I've tried that doesn't get me in #### with the wife - my office is off the master bedroom and she's super sensitive to smells. Hoppes has her sleeping on the couch cuddling the dog instead of me... no Bueno! Lol
 
I only use G96 for internal metal parts and the bore, and Renaissance Wax for all external parts--wood and metal. Zero rust in the last two decades, and it isn't always dry in Ontario. The only exception was a 10/22 stainless that I didn't treat and a BNIB Tilkka T3 blued that arrived with rust.
 
I use lots of G96 for general purpose and hose down wet guns with Ballistol. But one of my new favorites is Ship 2 Shore or S2S. They started off making a lube/protectant for nautical purposes but found it worked great to lube and protect guns and limit carbon buildup and I've found it works great in both respects. Smells pretty good too.
