Gun Purchase Advise Requested

$2500 is reasonable for the rifle, but when you add on the %12 tax, it really puts the price on the high side. If it was a $2500 private sale this thread wouldn't exist and I'd have a new rifle.

Ardent, how did you manage to build an LRB rifle for under $2000 when the receivers alone are $1400?
 
Just a FYI to clear misconceptions

ALL M14/M1A/M305/M14s/M14SA, all, are designed to have 2 stage triggers.
If your rifle of any of these types has a single stage trigger... It is unsafe and should not be fired.
Some US military armourers were able to reduce trigger pull to 4 lbs and all but eliminate the first stage. This was done under the National Match Conditioning regimen and was only possible due to readily availlable on base armorer support and uncle sam's parts bins ;)
It's my understanding that such trigger groups were rebuilt after every match.

I wouldn't in a million years believe that springfield has any better assembly or "quality" over LRB or Smith Enterprise. I also don't believe that SA's receiver, or any other part, would be superior in ANY way to it's american forged, machined and finished competition. I'm not saying any of them are better than the other, I'm saying basing a purchasing decision based on which one is "stronger" , less likely to crack, ect ect .... SA has no advantage here over the other choices.

But you have chosen an SA, so that's cool, let us know how it works out. The SA loaded is a nice rifle.

Under $2,000, no, low $2,000's is what I said if you read back, receiver $1400 landed, bought a Krieger off the EE, bought a Mod 0 M1A off the EE and sold the stock and scope mount, pulled the TRW parts I wanted and sold the barreled action after shooting it for a match (worked well, 2nd in our informal match for 200 yards). Bought a parts kit as well, used some parts sold the others. After all the fun actually likely is under $2,000, but will call it low 2's to be safe. Pretty easy and enjoyable.

So it turns out the seller lowered the price $300 out of the blue, so I decided to pull the trigger on it. You only live once, and you can't take it with you when you die right? It has a dlask muzzle brake. Any idea what it might be worth? Anyways, in compliance with the un-official forum rules, here are the pics:

Hearty congratulations, she's gorgeous. Could I talk you into trying our military shoot? Fun, informal online match for full power military rifles at any range you pick of 100, 200, 300, 500, and 1,000 yards. Ten rounds on a simple standard printer paper target available in the thread and then scored, a lot of fun and if you shoot the 300 yard and hit paper even just once, at present you'll be set up to win a silver coin. Fun way to break in a new rifle... ;) We just shot the 500 yard again tonight.

Stock's new to me too, for bipod it seems, kind of neat.

Thanks, but not really interested in competition at this time. Hell, I don't even know when I'll get to shoot her. It appears that ammo and reloading supplies are more rare than M1A rifles. Stupid americans panicking and hoarding all the supply.

And thanks for all the kind words. When I got rid of my Norinco decided to give up the m14 platform. But for reasons we all share, I just couldn't stay away. It doesn't matter if its a norc, LRB, SE, or springfield, M14's rock, and we all share the addiction.

There is nothing wrong with the price for what it is. A new one would cost $1000 more, so even if the barrel if 1/2 done its a good value. Don't forget that it is not difficult to replace the barrel one day if you need to.
