I'm looking to buy a Yugo pistol just because it would be cool to have because of its historic allure. I'm not intending to shoot it so I don't have a gun range membership. How do I go about buying it? Is it possible?

Thank you.

Most provinces you need a range membership and a r pal to buy restricted weapons
I think Ontario you don't need a range membership but not 100% sure
If you have no intentions of shooting it then maybe you could find a dewat for sale and you wouldn't need no licence or range membership to buy it. But what fun would that be?

Call up the RCMP to ask if a range membership is necessary, but I know when I've called to complete transfers in the past the question of intended use comes up, usually collection or range use.

Range membership obviously doesn't hurt but it might not be necessary.

I'm in Ontario and I have a RPAL.

Unless things have changed in Ontario just tell them the name of a range near you that you intend to join in the future. Proof of range requirement hasn't been mandatory in Ontario, unless that has changed! Be sure to tell them that your intended purpose is sport target shooting even if you don't plan on using the gun.

I'm surprised that out of all the provinces that Ontario is the only one that doesn't require a range membership to own restricted firearms. We are slammed hard for everything else.
